Hi Rad, just wanted to let you know I reviewed my last post and made a couple small edits. The changes were just to fix a couple inaccuracies/exaggerations on my part - nothing of the core content was changed in case you already read through it.

Hi Ari,

First, thanks for taking the time to do the work you have on this segment of our planetary method of chart interpretation. All of your EA reasoning for the various dynamics of the structural nature of the consciousness of Darwin are extremely sound, as well as correct.

You asked:

Quote
Some will argue, however, and rightly so, that Darwin did still believe in God when he wrote Origin of Species in 1859.  Though denying that God had a direct hand in creating species, he did nonetheless indicate that God created the natural laws of the cosmos, including the laws of evolutionary development.  He also interpolated a statement about a Creator breathing life into one or a few (primitive) organisms into the 1860 edition of Origin.

It’s also possible (perhaps even in addition to what I stated above) that his words were expressedly true to this soul; that he had an intuitive sense of there being a creator that created the natural laws of evolution and that this creator IS NOT the Christian God of the bible. Rad do you have any insight/clarification regarding whether what he wrote was actually true to him or not?

Yes. This is the actual reality for him. He pioneered what is now called natural science which of course is rooted in correlation and observation versus theory or hypothesis. We can see this relative to his Uranus being in Scorpio in the 11th, correlation and observation, trine his Pluto, etc, in Pisces in the 3rd which is then square his Saturn/Neptune: the phenomenal world. Thus, as you rightly said, the hypothesized God of the Christian Bible he rebelled and rejected because of this. Yet, at the same time, he pondered and considered that, of course, the phenomenal world was created by 'something'. That something of course is what we could call the natural God.

One thing I would add about the structural nature of his consciousness, which of course includes the necessary ego within it, is that his Soul was also invested in needing to be first, a pioneer, of the understanding that he came too and presented to the world: S.Node in Taurus in the 5th, Venus ruler in Aries in the 3rd, ruled by that Mars in Libra in the 10th. This is why he felt threatened by the simultaneous work of Wallace whom he wrote letters too, the stacked 3rd house, impressing on Wallace of all the years he had dedicated to his work on the 'Origin of the Species'. In other word, he needed, desired, to be first. It was integral to the structural nature of his consciousness.

Your EA work here is just brilliant work Ari. You, with the others, are truly helping those that have come to read this thread understand and learn EA. This is how it is meant to be done.

Bravo !!

Hi Rad, and thread group .. here’s my post about Darwin’s Saturn archetype ..

Thank you so much Rad for taking the time to read and correct, and for the continued guidance and support in the learning .. thanks too group for all of what you share .. it is very enriching ..
God Bless, Gonzalo

Relative to the Pisces Pluto bottom line desires to know all things, and the Source of all things, Saturn in the 12th House Sagittarius, being the ruler of the 2nd House, correlates with an structural nature of consciousness which is inherently adaptative, mutable, which naturally tends to assume the form of whatever it desires to know on a moment to moment basis and that is naturally open to perceive wholeness and union and underlying interconnectedness between phenomena, as based on the inherent union between each phenomenon and its ground, context, or source. Because of this, Saturn in the 12th House reflects a structure of consciousness having the potential to perceive the sacredness that manifests in structural reality within Creation, and Nature, because of perceiving the patterns and forms in which Spirit manifests and displays through them and which reveal their common origin. In order to perceive or intuit this unity or inner connectedness which is naturally pantheistic the Soul is capable to dissolve its own structure of consciousness, or to abstract the structure, and further, to merge with the phenomena themselves, thus, direct experience or knowledge versus a constructed reality which is dependent on reasoning, or linear associations relative to local or immediate circumstances. Because Saturn rules the 2nd House, this is a basis of how the Soul gives meaning to overall experience and to life.

One potential problem of this type of consciousness is that within natural times it took the habit -2nd House Capricorn-to view reality, and structures, as manifestations of Spirit, ie. an inherent and permeating naivety. Relative to patriarchal transition, the structural reality and social/cultural reality decayed and were distorted based on how the structural reality became overinvested as a source of emotional security because of the unresolved emotional trauma of separation of the mother, and the feminine. The overinvestment was linked with the creation of patriarchal male sky gods, male religions of hierarchical nature in which the feminine was deprived, negatively judged, condemned and persecuted, etc., etc. –Capricorn in the 2nd House, Saturn/Neptune in the 12th House, ruled by Jupiter in Pisces. With all the Capricorn south nodes, and the Moon, in Capricorn in the 2nd House, adaptation to changing standards has impacted on how the individual relates to self, gives meaning and value to experience, relates to senses and body, all this conditioning the existing orientation to knowledge of all things, translating into a need for beliefs which give account of the nature of reality and life, versus the natural openness to know directly. This translated into a delusory absolutization of existing standards, structures, and opinions/beliefs-Saturn/Neptune in the 12th House, ruled by Jupiter in the 3rd House Pisces-which were relative in nature, and distorted or false (the grand Cross formed by Saturn with Mercury, Lucifer in Virgo in the 9th House, and Pandora in the 6th House Gemini). Because of the projected emotional security and meaning into structures, beliefs, and judgments, and the desire and orientation to merge with the perceived totality which has been conditioned by social repression, one dynamic exists in which only a reduced part of reality is perceived or considered as real. With Saturn being in the 12th House, and Sagittarius, there would be a need to have the limited knowledge confirmed and validated by society. This emanates in first place from the original desires to merge, leading to an idealization of social whole, because of the naivety and natural lack of boundaries. In second place, it emanates from the underlying insecurity created by the Capricorn repression which prevents a deeper exploration of the inner experience. This supported the Soul defining types of roles –Saturn, South Node of the Moon in the 5th House-which were supported by society and which were based on a relative superiority of intellectual and intuitive capacities the Soul had evolved in natural times through its orientation to knowledge. And of course, the need to be part of, the need to adhere, to believe, and the dogmatism conditioned the orientation to knowledge and created ‘limitations’ in the orientation to knowledge in those lifetimes –Taurus South Node, Capricorn in the 2nd House-as has been thoroughly analyzed in this thread. Thus, the individual has been overly identified with these types of social roles linked with knowledge, or with the social coordinates for knowledge, because they represent emotional security and confirmation of what is real. Because the intention to internalize consciousness is not fully embraced because of the egocentric response to insecurity, conditioned by repression, there would be a relative ‘madness’ in those lifetimes, in which too much meaning was projected on ideas, images and ‘icons’, representing some glamorized ideal of ultimate nature, including corrupt images, corrupted or distorted by repression of natural nature. This could be a very intense dynamic of duplicity if the same chart belonged to some Soul within Consensus, where the ultimate ideals would stand as the basis for negative judgments of everything that did not conform to the ideal, and, same time, all the double standards, underdogs, and scapegoats serving to preserve in diverse ways the adherence to the social correctness within upper social strata while acting upon the repressed desires in institutional, yet ‘private’ or concealed ways, such as in the morality of the Victorian England-also, the Saturn trine to Venus/Vesta in Aries, and Venus rules Taurus on the 6th House cusp. The Soul of Darwin, though, was at the 3rd individuated state. However, Saturn/Neptune are Balsamic, implying a need to bring to the current lifetime all that is unresolved coming from many many lifetimes, relating to all the ways in which the consciousness has identified with or merged with the social whole or has desired to be a part of, and to be validated by an idealized authority or society, and the types of distortions and limitations these desires have created in the ongoing quest for understanding-Pluto Pisces 3rd House.

The individual has needed to experience fundamental disillusionment linked with the own beliefs, ‘knowledge’, and ideals. Yet the disillusionment and dissolution have been necessary in order to remove fixations or obscurations. The Soul created desires to almost totally withdraw from social interaction, as in the sailing, and with the Pluto polarity point in the 9th House Virgo, and Saturn in Sagittarius in the 12th House, ruling the 2nd House, it is possible that this has lead also to lives of retirement in Nature, or in reduced communities which grew their own food, or natural lifetimes of nomadic type. There are other symbols that suggest prior lifetimes in communities-Chiron in Aquarius 2nd House square the Nodes, North Node in the 11th House, Uranus conjunct the North Node, Venus, ruler of the MC, is also the ruler of the 11th House. Again, the Soul’s evolution is within the 3rd stage individuated. This suggests to me that, because of the bottom line Pluto Pisces orientation to knowledge, prior to the lifetimes of piracy .. perhaps their could have been lifetimes in monasteries. The conflict between withdrawing in Nature and living with people, and in cities, would be solved many times orientating to social interaction because of fixed egocentric identification, and attachment to the worldly, pleasurable, or glamorized. The Soul would still also have desired to live in total seclusion, because of the massive disillusionments linked with intellectual authority. Saturn in the 12th House Sagittarius implies at that point within patriarchy that the Soul would feel insecure both in human society and in Nature. It would have felt like lost somewhere undefined not knowing which way to go, and creating all types of non-linear or irrational experiences the individual has struggled to repress in order to maintain a sense of normalcy and stability of all of its constructions, translating into series of aberrational fears, phobias, obsessions, chronic muscular tension originating in the conflict between the desire to relax and the desire to control (ie. a conflict between pineal and pituitary), allergies and immune system disorders. Also, hemorrhoids because of alternating between relaxing and contracting the anal sphincter. With Uranus Scorpio conjunct the North Node, there could be some intense level of kundalini activity, coming from prior lifetimes, based on desires to ‘transcend’ and liberate of boundaries and limitations, and a simultaneous need to repress such energy, which would be another contributing factor to confusional states, depersonalization, out of body experiences, extreme levels of stress, and the overall medical condition of Darwin. (Rad, please confirm if this is correct or not).

Prior to this I wonder that the Saturn 12th House Sagittarius, relative to Pluto Pisces and all the mutable symbols, all reflect this Soul coming from some other planet that would be quite different as compared with Earth. It also reflects the potential impact of early mal-adaptation to human form when coming from other types of consciousness that were more united or were inseparable from Nature because of being less dualistic. Thus, I wonder whether all daemon souls on Earth came to this planet already within human form, or if some came in other forms that then evolved to human form-such as animals like wolves and dogs, but also as Nature spirits as elves, dwarves and fairies. Rad, if possible, could you please confirm or correct these speculations? ….. In any case, it reflects a type of consciousness that would naturally feel totally alienated and out of place in the context of human civilization. And yet, who has needed to relate to society in specific ways as required by the Soul in its own quest for knowledge (the 10th House Mars in Libra, already analyzed in this thread, is very emphasized because it squares various south and north planetary nodes in the Capricorn/Cancer axis, relating to evolutionary stress which connects, among other reasons, with the need to share the 3rd House Pisces, Saturn/Neptune Sagittarius, knowledge, in socially valid terms).

At some points within the ongoing individuation the contents of the social conditioning, equaling lies, the individual identified with in the past, and the prior orientations to consensus, would be experienced as howling ghosts representing these prior orientations. These types of experiences would also be created by the phenomenon of guilt, which has been talked about in prior posts, connecting to such orientations, over-identification with social roles and with the personal purpose which created alienation from family bonds, where loss was experienced –Saturn 12th House Sagittarius ruling the Moon in Capricorn in the 2nd House conjunct the south node of Saturn, and asteroids Orpheus and Beatrix, while Euridike is at 3°54’ Sagittarius conjunct Saturn/Neptune and inconjunct asteroid Persephone .. the Ceres/Pluto conjunct in Pisces, ruled by Neptune conjunct Saturn, etc. ie themes that have been talked about before, relating to deaths in close family relationships, and children, the suppressed mourning when these occurred, the need to repeat in order to access the store of unresolved emotions, the descent to the underworld. Also lifetimes in which the Soul was either struggling to create or maintain a sense of purpose of overly egocentric nature, or potentially, through dynamics of wanting to give up all types of responsibility because of disillusionment and futility in relation with the roles, responsibilities, and life, and/or desires to be free to explore. Within this, there is specific guilt connected with lies and misrepresentation in personal relationships and family relationships-Saturn/Neptune in the 12th House Sagittarius opposed the 7th House cusp, which is ruled by Mercury in the 3rd House Pisces. William Dampier had Saturn in the 8th House in Cancer entering the orb of square to the Moon’s nodes, with the North Node in Aries in the 5th House, ruled by Mars in the 10th House, square Saturn. Saturn is in Cancer, ruled by a Virgo Moon in the 9th House. Saturn is inconjunct Neptune/Uranus in Sagittarius in the 1st House-which oppose the 7th House Pluto in Gemini-and which is conjunct Mercury in the 8th House Cancer, square the nodes, ruler of Pluto, and which is opposed Pallas in the 2nd House Capricorn, thus we can also see here the types of guilt connected with a conflict between, on one hand,  desires to give to others knowledge forms-Pluto 7th House Gemini-and being dependent of the need to supply and receive-and actualizing a position of authority that guarantees this interchange, with Mars in Libra in the 10th House being trine to Pluto- even though having the feeling that the knowledge forms are not good enough, thus creating some degree of delusion for others and having the intellectual honesty compromised-South Node Libra ruled by Venus in the 6th House, Pluto Gemini square Chiron in the 9th House Virgo, Pluto 7th House opposed by Jupiter in the 12th House Sagittarius, Mercury 8th House square the nodes, ruled by the Moon in the 9th House Virgo- and, on the other side, desires to be independent to actualize knowledge in its own way, free from restrictions, this conflict creating inner anger, frustration, ruthlessness and cruelty (however with guilt which has been avoided or denied, translating into a coexisting sarcasm), and being a causal factor in separations within relationships, crisis, loss, and guilt within family structures-Saturn in Cancer square the Nodes, in the 8th House, the Moon is in the 9th House inconjunct the North Node in the 5th House Aries, and exactly squaring Ceres in the 1st House Sagittarius. Further, because of Saturn being conjunct Mercury, relative to Pluto Gemini in the 7th House, direct symbols of karma about lies or misrepresentation, some of which relating to the nature and length of the separations from the family, or promises to be with, or to come back. Further, in Darwin’s birthchart guilt is connected with other types of loss relating to rebellion against and denial of the changes occurred within family structure and sexuality through the inception of patriarchal kinship-Saturn 12th House Sagittarius trine Venus in Aries 3rd House, Mars in the 10th House Libra, Uranus Scorpio inconjunct the North Node in the 11th House, etc. which have been talked about earlier. In Dampier’s chart, the Saturn in Cancer 8th House square the nodes, with Pluto in the 7th House Gemini opposing the 1st House Neptune/Uranus, rulers of the 3rd House, Mars/Vesta in Libra in the 10th House. Depending on the nature of ‘societies’ in which the Soul individuated within the 2nd stage, the dynamics of rebellion against established order could have been very intense –Uranus/North Node, Mars 10th House. Saturn in the 12th House would support alienation, ‘anti-social behavior’ and not assuming responsibility for the own actions, connected with victimization. Some of this still manifesting in the lives of piracy. Given that Sagittarius and Gemini correlate with speculation, and games correlate with the Leo and Gemini, the Saturn in the 12th House Sagittarius in its connection with Mercury/Pluto and Jupiter in the 3rd House, would suggest to me the signature of a gambler, or someone who desires to make money through gambling-Saturn rules the 2nd House and is trine to Venus, especially in games that demand the use of the intellect. Betting would imply choosing between possibilities, versus knowing which one is correct or true, as if, because of the many experiences of trauma of being wrong or disillusioned, the world is perceived as chaotic or ruled by chance, also possibly having the intuition of underlying patterns and order and using the betting as a way to relate to such patterns and confirm or verify the intuitions and reasoning (like in the Sting lyrics “He deals the cards to find the answer, the sacred geometry of chance”). This webpage relates to gambling on board Dampier’s ship: http://www.worldnavalships.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14116. Further, relative to the ea state of Darwin and his bottom line quest for understanding, the symbols suggest a potential for a degree of intellectual gambling in past lifetimes, for similar types of reasons (Blaise Pascal with his famous bet on God’s existence, had Saturn/Jupiter/Uranus square the nodes, in Leo, ruled by the Sun in Gemini in the 12th House).

In general terms, the Soul has been creating many types of crises -12th House, Neptune- along many lifetimes, in order to promote an alignment of the consciousness with the inherent possibilities to know, and its overall nature of course, sp. the integration of the emotional body-the Cancer north node of Saturn is in the 8th House- ie. to create an accelerated evolution of the cognition of Soul, based on the Pluto Pisces bottom line desires to remove ignorance, and within this, desires of knowing and understanding Nature, and the evolution of species.

This has required in current lifetime that all which is unresolved coming from different types of past lifetimes in a quite large span of evolutionary time (Balsamic, Saturn being the ruler of the south node of Pluto), to manifest within the inner consciousness and life of Darwin in different ways.

The 10th House Mars is the ruler of the 5th House cusp in Aries, and Saturn is in a Last Quarter square to the Sun. This implies that something, a form, needed to be created through Darwin, which would occur, though, in non-egocentric ways. Rather, that which his consciousness required to grasp and perceive, demanded a subtraction or abstraction, and liberation from prior structures conditioning understanding, ie. intuition of larger patterns, yet, having at same time to take account and search for linear evidence as required to present the material in the right way-the polarity point of Saturn is Gemini in the 6th House, Saturn/Mercury first quarter square, all the Gemini, Pluto/Mercury, correlate with facts and evidence, and the needed methodology. This implies two alternating necessary movements of consciousness, the first in direction to the unconditioned or absolute, the second in direction to the conditioned and relative, the first one based on dissolving and abstracting structures, the second one demanding creation of parameters, judgments, and linguistic structures. The mutable Grand Cross of Saturn/Mercury/Lucifer/Pandora reflect the growth potential involved in the task to unite consciousness and form, withdrawal and social interaction, as a vehicle to dissolve pre-existing distortions or fixations of perspective and re-align the use of Souls knowledge faculties with the Soul nature, and existing needs of society, humans, and Gaia. This implied that, a liberation from prior conditioning is still on course relative to knowledge or understanding itself-Lucifer/Saturn square is within the last quarter phase, while the same stuff which is being liberated from consensus fixations and distortions of perspective is to be presented to the humans, including the consensus-the Pluto/Saturn square is within Disseminating phase. This has demanded not to conceal or manipulate, and not to withdraw, or rather, to withdraw and then go back to define the form, order, structure, and to present the material in a very well formed and structured ways understandable by consensus –Mars in Libra in the 10th. Thus, the form requiring full attention and concentration, and yet, the same form manifesting from a substratum which is richer and vaster than what could be put within the form, words, accessed in ever deeper ways by Darwin’s Soul because of the emotional integration intended-north node of Saturn in the 8th House-as if Origins were a vehicle for a message from Nature itself or Gaia to the humans on the planet.

Hi Rad,

I have had an unexpected large increase in my work load last week and now it's been extended into this week too, and I just haven't had a single chance to start anything at all yet. Everything has been pushed back, so now I'm aiming at getting started on things next weekend and posting as soon after that as I can. This will be my first priority, then the medical post (but please don't wait for me on that thread, I could really be quite a while getting to that). Sorry for the delay, I know it's taking a long time.

thanks Upasika

Hi Gonzalo,

First, thanks for taking the time to do the EA work you have on this next step in our planetary method: Saturn.

In reading through, several times, what you have presented I realized that you have in fact written what was going on within the structural nature of the consciousness of Darwin. I realized this by remembering what I wrote on Saturn for us here: that you essentially went through each of those paragraphs and answered them accordingly in what you have written.

And what you have written by way of all the various dynamics that formed the whole of the structural nature of Darwin's consciousness in essentially correct with some exceptions that are reflected in the questions you have asked me: below. The only 'problem' in what you have written that I had at first, as perhaps others who will read what you have written, is that it presented from the point of view of the structural nature of Darwin's consciousness. In other words you have captured all the inner dynamics that were indeed operating within his consciousness without referencing those dynamics to the structural nature of his consciousness as such.

You stated:

"It would have felt like lost somewhere undefined not knowing which way to go, and creating all types of non-linear or irrational experiences the individual has struggled to repress in order to maintain a sense of normalcy and stability of all of its constructions, translating into series of aberrational fears, phobias, obsessions, chronic muscular tension originating in the conflict between the desire to relax and the desire to control (ie. a conflict between pineal and pituitary), allergies and immune system disorders. (Rad, please confirm if this is correct or not)."

*********

All of this is correct with the exception of the link to kundalini. All of what you have written is rooted in unresolved traumas from many prior lives of the Soul of Darwin which were repeated in various ways in the actual life of Darwin.

**************

*************

Daemon Souls that come to this planet are already evolved to the point that they do not need to manifest in other forms, non-human, in order to evolve into human form. Yet such Souls can and do indeed manifest in other forms for reasons that are unique to each of these types of Souls.

**************

You have captured many of the operation dynamics within the total structural nature of the consciousness of Darwin Gonzalo, and now those dynamics interacted within/ among themselves to create the 'reality' of Darwin. There are other dynamics that you did not capture but I am sure that this is because of your life and what you have/ are needing to do right now. For example, are core dynamic that you missed was the fact that Darwin desired, needed, to be 'first' relative to the realizations and understandings that he came too that all went into his book. Thus, a competitiveness that was an underlying yet defining dynamic for the whole of his consciousness.

Excellent EA work Gonzalo. Bravo !!

Hi Rad,
Thanks so much for the feedback, and the answers. Yes, I based what I wrote in the introduction you made about the Saturn archetype ...

I'm not sure to understand correctly one indication you gave, which is enigmatic to me ...

My intuition is that what I wrote is like considering the structure of consciousness as external to consciousness, instead of realizing that the structure of the consciousness, its energy, is created by consciousness, and is consciousness itself .. ie. that consciousness is not inside, or trapped within  the structure, but is also in the structure ...  is it about this?

Thank you so much

Yes, in a way because the consciousness within the Soul is the determinant, relative to desires, of all that it creates including the very structural nature of it's conscious awareness in each life. And that the structural nature of is consciousness, it's sense of reality that is caused by that structure, is a function of all kinds of INNER DYNAMICS that have been set in motion over many, many lifetimes that all combine, in any given life, to create that structural awareness within consciousness of the Soul. The motion of all those inner dynamics then creates a gravity point within that consciousness wherein all of the dynamics can correlate to a 'mass' that is in motion, evolution, so that the structural nature of it's consciousness, reality, evolves as those dynamics change over time. So, to me, what you wrote in very accurate relative to the dynamics that you identified but it's this understanding of how the actual structural nature of Darwin's consciousness came to be what it is that I found lacking. But that is just my reading of what you presented. Others very well may see exactly what I don't see.

Hi Rad,

Just a quick note - I have an unexpected ongoing emergency to help someone with, plus starting a new job, and a pile up of pre-Mercury retrograde "items" (eg taxes) to process, so I still haven't been able to get pen to paper yet. All this week, the weekend and next week are all earmarked to deal with these things and I won't be able to start until the following weekend (2nd/3rd). I'm sorry to delay so badly again, and thank you for your patience.

On another note I just want to thank you for the powerful blessing and deep wishes you gave me a while ago now ... for my heath to recover to the maximum extent possible. Of course there were many factors at play, but I know for a certainty that was a potent force that played a unique role in my recovery - which, although it's early days yet, seems to be a very good one - what I had dreamed of attaining but was so far away from that I couldn't ever imagine it. I'm back to 90% full functioning, and the remaining improvement would just seem to be a matter of care & time now. Your blessing helped to imagine this and seeded a deep hope that maybe I could be healed.

And that hope percolated away and eventually led to me trying a very, very expensive physical healer (with a great reputation for results) who I had known about all along but resisted seeing for 5 years because I never had the huge amounts of money his treatment materials required, but this time I decided to get a (really expensive) loan and just do it. And this paid off - this man and his partner have done what all the other doctors couldn't do, so thank you!

Rad,

I do want to let you know that I am hoping to have something posted on Saturn by the end of this week. In case you feel like you need to move on, I also understand as it has taken me so long to post.

Upasika, I am also happy to hear hopeful news regarding your health.

Happy Mercury retrograde!

Hi Gray,

As long as you still desire to post on this Planetary Thread we will just keep doing so no matter how long it takes you, Gonzalo, Ari, and Upasika to post on any given segment. The incredible quality of the EA work all of you are doing, and those that had been posting before they dropped out, is simply exceptional work that allows all those who have come to read this thread learn EA in the way it is meant to be done. So much so that we are contemplating turning this thread on the Planetary Method, when finished, into an actual book so that it can have an even larger distribution than it does now.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, Rad- I am very grateful to have the opportunity to receive feedback from you on this thread.  I want to make a good post about Darwin's Saturn, so unfortunately I am going to need some more time as a lot has been happening and I have not managed to focus sufficiently on writing this post yet.  I will have a post finished as soon as I can manage it.  Thank you so much for your patience and time spent nurturing our understanding.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Dear Rad,
I'm currently re-working the Mercury stage of Dampier and Darwin. Dampier's Mercury is quite interesting to analyze, and I hope to post as soon as possible.
God Bless,

Hi Rad, and group

This post is about Dampier's Mercury, and some of Darwin's. I could add some more, but it would take too long and would be mostly a repetition of ideas that have been posted before. I do hope this now fits the context of the Soul. Thanks so much Rad for your unwavering support.

God Bless, Gonzalo

William Dampier had Mercury in the 8th House in Cancer, conjunct Saturn, both in the 8th House Cancer, squaring the nodal axis. Mercury rules Pluto in Gemini in the 7th House. Mercury is in mutual reception with the Moon in Virgo intercepted in the 9th House. Aquarius is on the 3rd House cusp, ruled by Uranus Rx in the 1st House conjunct Neptune Rx in Sagittarius, and Neptune/Uranus oppose Pluto and form a square to Chiron in the 9th House in Virgo, Chiron being the focal point of a T-square with Neptune/Uranus and Pluto. The 6th House cusp is Taurus, ruled by Venus in the 6th House. Venus is the ruler of the South Node in the 11th House Libra, and is inconjunct the South Node.

With Pluto in Gemini in the 7th House, ruled by Mercury/Saturn in the 8th House in Cancer square the nodes from the 11th House to the 5th House, and the Pluto opposition by Neptune/Uranus in Sagittarius in the 1st House-Uranus is the 3rd House ruler- there is a deep crisis –square- relating to the Soul’s orientation to knowledge and the impact in this orientation of the transition between natural times and the patriarchal. Pluto in Gemini, Mercury in the 8th House, reflect a bottom-line evolutionary intention to metamorphose orientation to knowledge and resulting intellectual constructions which have created a limitation, and a fixity, in the Soul’s knowledge processing. There are repressed or unconscious memories from natural times, which have also been a reason for an overall conflict and instinctual opposition to manmade ways of thinking and overall types of ‘civilized’ socialization -7th House Pluto opposition to Uranus/Neptune in Sagittarius- with a variety of responses to this conflict. The massive crises in socialization also includes personal and intimate relationships because Gemini and Pluto are in the 7th House-Venus is in the 6th House-a natural Mercury house-relating to a crisis within relationships, in Taurus, with himself, and with others in general – Pluto 7th House, South Node in Libra, ruled by the Venus, and Mercury/Saturn in the 8th Cancer is also specific to marriages, and family relationships. Thus, these symbols relate to intellectual crises that have fully impacted and are rooted on the emotional body, and how emotional and psychological insecurity has conditioned the orientation to truth or knowledge in general. There are inner feelings and unresolved emotional states of overwhelming loss and separation, which are not integrated, which have conditioned a series of responses, and extreme responses, to the conflict between being in relationships, or being alone and independent as ways to find and process knowledge, including giving knowledge to others. We have posted before on how this conflict manifested in Darwin’s chart, in connection with his Mars in Libra in the 10th House square the nodes of Pluto and Saturn, and the different responses and resulting types of experiences including Darwin’s Uranus North Node conjunction. We have also posted on the themes in Darwin’s Soul’s evolution of unresolved loss and mourning coming from the times of transition from matriarchy to patriarchy, connecting to the loss of the connection with the mother, types of traumas which have been recreated in many lifetimes as loss of family members or loss of children-Pluto Pisces, Moon in Capricorn 2nd House conjunct the south nodes of Pluto, Saturn and others, with the Moon ruling the 8th House Cancer in Darwin’s chart. In Dampier we see these themes in the Saturn 8th House square to the nodes; also in the South Node of the Moon being in the 11th House, with the Moon in Virgo 9th House square Uranus/Ceres in the 1st House, ie. mother figures or families which are detached and alienated from. Persephone is conjunct the south nodes of Pluto/Saturn and is opposed to Saturn; asteroid Orpheus is exactly conjunct the South Node, with Euridike conjuncting the Moon in the 9th House Virgo, and so on. The Saturn/Mercury square to the nodes of course are a symbol of unresolved mourning.

As in Darwin’s chart, there are symbols in Dampier’s chart of having experienced deep communion in natural times, and of being initiated in natural sexual rituals, in the natural ways-Pluto 7th House in Gemini ruled by Mercury in the 8th House in Cancer, square the nodes, the South Node in the 11th Aquarian House, ruled by Venus in Taurus 6th House which forms a Grand trine with Pallas in the 2nd House Capricorn and the Moon in the 9th House Virgo. Venus is also in a Full phase sesquicuad with Mars, ie. social role of the rituals in the times when authority, and intellectual authority, were being transferred from the women to men, and guilt within the Soul, and of course there has been a variety of responses to these because of the overall conflict and direct or indirect rebellion against the ‘system’. Because Pluto is Gemini, 7th House, and the South Node is Libra in the 11th House, the nature of the rebellion within the Individuated stages has been oriented to a variety of types of relationships both personal and intimate and relationships with society as such: Pluto 7th House trine Mars in the 10th House Libra, Saturn square the nodes; also Venus, ruler of the South Node is in the 6th House of work and service, and rules the 10th House Libra and Mars/Vesta in Libra in the 10th House. Pluto being Gemini, opposed by Neptune/Uranus Sagittarius, and Mercury being square the nodes, demonstrate that some of the rebellions have been specifically connected with belief systems, and further, with types of relationships that have confronted the ‘beliefs’ and opinions of the consensus. We have seen in Darwin’s chart the symbols which refer to prior lifetimes in the context of communities, and religious based communities: Uranus/South Node in the 11th House Scorpio, ruled by Pluto in Pisces. We can also consider within these Darwin’s symbols the possibility of such communities having confronted larger forces, and being persecuted for religious reasons. In Dampier’s chart, same types of prior lives dynamics are reflected in the South Node in the 11th House, ruled by Venus in the 6th House, and Mercury/Saturn squaring the nodes in the 8th House, in turn ruled by the Moon in the 9th House in Virgo, relative to Pluto Gemini and its opposition to the 1st House Sagittarius Neptune/Uranus: collective trauma of these communities.

There is an overall intention and need to bring these emotional memories into conscious awareness for processing and resolution-Mercury square the nodes in the 8th House, South Node in the 11th House. However the potential for alienation, and necessary alienation as we shall see, is reflected in these very symbols, and in Mercury/Saturn being ruled by the Moon in the 9th House, in Virgo, ie. alienation coexisting with guilt, resulting in sarcasm. Now in Dampier’s birthchart this is a lifetime which is quite focused on relationship issues, or imbalances within relationships, based on relationship patterns coming from prior lifetimes –Pluto in the 7th House, South Node in Libra. There are and have been a variety of dynamics and karmic themes within relationships, and wives, and families. There are deep fears of intimacy, which coexist with intense projected expectations of emotional nature within the relationships. Many resulting issues have involved levels of honesty, knowledge of motives, promises, duplicity and concealment, and many partings and separations-the Pluto 7th House opposition to Neptune/Uranus 1st House, and the South node in the 11th House Libra-detachment from relationships. That these have created crises is indicated by Venus, the South Node ruler, being in the 6th, Virgo House, and forming a trine with the Virgo Moon in the 9th House, and being inconjunct to the North Node. Again, this is a reflection of the earlier traumas of loss of the connection with the mother, and the resulting inner devastation and weariness-the same Moon and Venus and the Grand trine with Pallas Rx in the 2nd House Capricorn, which is opposed to Mercury, and is also in a square to the nodal axis. And the Mercury/Saturn square to the nodes further correlate with an inner state of depression and melancholia, which is a result of the unresolved grief and mourning.

Same time, there has been an element of lack in relationships, emotional security that is missing or has been denied from an external source because of the individual’s need to become self-secure in independent ways-North Node in Aries in the 5th House, Pluto polarity point in the 1st House-note that the North Node is the resolution node for the Saturn/Mercury skipped steps. The Saturn/Mercury square the nodes in the 8th House reflects also ongoing inner and outer confrontations with larger forces of social or metaphysical nature-death.

Because Venus is in the 6th House, ruling the South Node in Libra in the 11th House, prior lifetimes of the Soul manifested duality and duplicity –Pluto Gemini 7th House, Mercury in the 8th House, in various ways. The duplicity is inherently based on the unresolved loss and mourning –Saturn/Mercury Cancer square the nodes, and how the loss, separation and absence, have been dealt with within relationships and how they have impacted on intellectual orientation and organization –Pluto Gemini 7th House. There have been potentially a variety of manifestations of these symbols, which can be seen as variations or elaborations of the loss. There are intellectual patterns which have operated in relationships which are part of unintegrated shadow -8th House, and Saturn-which however has been projected in relationships, and karmic relationships with women and family members. We can see here, as in Darwin’s birthchart, obvious symbols of rebellion against patriarchal regulation of family and kinship-same Mercury/Saturn Cancer square the South Node in the 11th House, Pluto in the 7th in Gemini, correlating with siblings (in Darwin’s chart, North Node conjunct Uranus in the 11th House Scorpio, ruled by Pluto in the 3rd House, Venus in Aries 3rd House ruled by Mars in the 10th House, etc.). These symbols demonstrate the Soul’s inner refusal to acknowledge that matriarchy was over, and that relationships, sex, children, and families, create consequences for him and other people that are relative to a patriarchally conditioned reality.

We know this is a Soul that is inwardly defined by a compelling instinctual need for independent discovery, and self-discovery-Neptune/Uranus in Sagittarius in the 1st House opposing Pluto, North Node in Aries 5th House ruled by Mars trine to Pluto-this is a man who circumnavigated Earth three times. So, the Pluto in the 7th House reflects extremes in the orientation to relationships, which have resulted from the conflicting desires to be in relationships, and the need for independent exploration and discovery. And because Pluto is Gemini, there have been dynamics of duplicity. What types of duplicity? There have been a variety of situations which, at their core, are based on the unresolved emotional states, and how these unresolved states have impacted on the Soul’s objectivity about reality in general, and about self and others within relationships specifically, ie. the Soul’s ability to discriminate between what is real and what is not real - reality and illusion- in the object or the perceived ‘other’-Pluto 7th House Gemini rules the 12th House Scorpio, Pluto is opposed by Neptune, Mercury squares the nodes. The inability to discriminate is based on what could be called a duplication of the lost object.

Within relationships, some of the manifestations have been:
* An orientation to a variety of relationships in which Dampier’s Soul has lacked discrimination about whom to get involved with, and whom not: Pluto 7th House Gemini, South Node Libra 11th House, its ruler, Venus, in the 6th House; Mercury square the nodes. This of course includes many relationships which have been sexual in nature-Pluto, 8th House. There have been many relationships with women who were prostitutes: the South Node ruler is Venus in the 6th House, in Taurus, ruling Mars/Vesta in the 10th House Libra.

* An orientation to detach from wanting to be in relationships: Libra in the 11th House, Pluto 7th House opposed by Uranus 1st House, Pluto ruled by Mercury square the nodes, in order to be totally free to expand the horizon of understanding

* Within the desires to be in relationships, an underlying dynamic has existed of projection of ideals, an idealization of women who have been perceived as an embodiment of ‘perfection’ or the so: Scorpio on the 12th House cusp, ruled by Pluto in the 7th House opposed by Neptune- leading to wanting to ‘believe’ in whatever ways these women would chose to present themselves, without having their reality checked in any ways, or rather, having the desires to ‘believe’ or to maintain the ideals imposed on the observed reality-Mercury/Saturn squaring the nodes.

* A dynamic of wanting to depend emotionally, or even materially, from the relationships-Pluto 7th House, South Node Libra, Saturn being the 2nd House ruler and squaring the nodes from the 8th House of marriage, in Cancer. This has been based both on the unresolved emotional expectations and unresolved traumas of emotional loss, and the impact of these patterns, and the guilt patterns, on the Soul desires and needs for personal actualization-the Saturn/mercury square the nodes relative to the North Node in Aries in the 5th House; the South Node ruler, Venus, in Taurus-money- being in the 6th, Virgo House.

* Of course the dynamics of wanting to be dependent on relationships, and the dynamics of projection of ideals, have also been compounded by desires for personal humiliation or atonement-the Venus in the 6th House-for the reasons talked about already. A vehicle for such types of humiliation have been experiences of fundamental disillusionment, as required to induce actual knowledge.

* Within the rebelliousness against consensus standards about how to be in relationship, I see the potential for some specific types of relationships that combine several of the above dynamics. An example or model of such types of relationships could be the ‘courtly love’ ideology and the ideals of the Provençal troubadours which flourished in Occitan in the 11th century. I wonder his Soul in some prior lifetime perhaps even composed romantic poetry/songs-Pluto Gemini 7th House, South Node Libra conjunct Orpheus, ruled by Venus conjunct Erato. While it can seem strange that a man who on a later life as Darwin wrote, when pondering the reasons to marry or not marry, that the company of a woman was better than the company of a dog … it is plausible in that the symbols commented reflect the potential to use thought/language forms within relationships, or in order to attract relationships/sex, as a vehicle to not really know about the actual other, who thus remains idealized and serves to project the unresolved emotional expectations and overall subconscious dynamics coming from the early experiences of loss. And, same time, true intimacy is thus avoided based on the fears of abandonment and loss, and in order to preserve the inner world of images in which the original mourning is still unresolved/denied. Courtly love serves as a model or example for this orientation to relationships in that it combines several of the dynamics:

- rebellion against social institutions, ie. marriage. Courtly love was essentially extra-marital love, or in other words, love for a woman who was married, reflecting women’s desires to liberate from patriarchal marriage. In Dampier’s chart, the Mercury/Saturn 8th House, relative to Pluto 7th House Gemini, South Node in Libra in the 11th House, Moon in the 9th House Virgo;

- necessary rejection by the woman, and submission to the woman’s will (in a way, as historians elaborate, a transference of the relationship with a land-lord): the South Node ruler being in the 6th House.

- Rejection by the woman and submission to the woman’s will sets in motion the need for adventures, feats and endeavors that would prove the lover’s obedience to the lady, and his worth. In this the courtly love is linked with the ideals of chivalry. Venus in the 6th House; Mars, ruler of the North Node in Aries, in the 10th House, and the oppositions to Pluto from the 1st House, which are ruled by Jupiter in the 12th House Sagittarius.

- Idealization of the lady, connected with the absence of true knowledge and intimacy, and, further, this serving to keep the ‘split’ in the object in which the idealized desires coexist with the most basic and unresolved, repressed sexual urges-both types of topics are tied together in the verses of Provençal poets. In Dampier’s chart, Pluto 7th House ruling the 12th House, Pluto Gemini ruled by Mercury/Saturn in the 8th House with Saturn ruling the 2nd House, Venus Taurus 6th House, Mars in the 10th House.

- Of course, the proliferation of inner thoughts and language forms devoted to the lady … which serves to preserve the idealized inner object, and to deny the perceived reality whatever it may be: Pluto Gemini 7th House, Mercury square the nodes, the 3rd House rulers being Neptune/Uranus opposing Pluto; Orpheus conjunct the Libra South Node, Cupido conjunct Mercury-and Cupid opposing Mercury-Cupido being conjunct asteroid Don Quixote, and both being conjunct the south node of Venus, and both the Black Moon Lilith and the Dark Moon; and asteroid Dulcinea .. being conjunct the Venus, in the 6th House, in Taurus.  (e.e. cummings had Pluto/Neptune Gemini 1st House, conjunct Dulcinea, ruled by Mercury in the 6th House Scorpio conjunct Uranus, Vesta and Juno all Scorpio 6th House; the South Node is Libra, 5th House, ruled by Venus, which rules Libra on the 6th House cusp, and Venus is conjunct Don Q. ; his 8th House ruler is Jupiter, which is in Cancer, squaring the nodes: “somewhere i have never traveled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence … nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility … nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands”).

(It is interesting to further consider that the courtly love ideology is intimately connected with the Cathars, and some of the collective trauma talked about traceable in both Dampier’s and Darwin’s charts, and the prior lives in communities and religious communities, could potentially be related to Catharism. Other of the links would be the dualistic types of though, and gnosticism-Pluto Gemini ruling the 12th House Pluto 3rd House Pisces in Darwin’s, etc.).

What is the essence or root of these types of relatedness patterns? Obviously it is something based on inner dynamics implying a duality or duplicity originating in the traumas of loss, and the unresolved mourning, and a split or fragmentation thereof-Pluto Gemini, ruled by Mercury/Saturn square the South Node in the 11th House, Pluto/Uranus in opposition. The inner workings that create this situation are quite difficult to understand precisely for me. Freud talked about this in his essay on Mourning and Melancholy, based on ideas coming from Abraham, and he proposed some interesting things there, perhaps more interesting in what relates to melancholia or unresolved mourning, than his thoughts on ‘normal’ mourning. However, he later changed his views on this in his essay about the Ego and the Id, and he came to acknowledge that he didn’t understand the topic completely. This topic has also been dealt with by Melanie Klein I think, and later, by Lacan, among others within psychoanalysis. I wonder whether Jung talked about this from a more transpersonal point of view. I’m adding just some few thoughts I have about what the essence of this situation can be, in Dampier’s Soul:

First, one very basic fact to consider is that whatever object, or person, we perceive, creates an inner image within the Soul, which is a ‘copy’ or image of the actual object or person: an inner object. Because of Pluto being Gemini, and Mercury being square the nodes, this is an intensified dynamic in Dampier´s Soul: Mercury correlates with the creation or construction of objects. It is because of this duplication of reality in the inner world that we can use imagination or fantasy, as in dreams, in which we can relate to such images, as if they were the actual object or image, without necessarily interfacing with reality after the image has been ‘captured’ or internalized. That Dampier’s imagination and fantasy was quite active can be seen in Pluto ruling the 12th House and being opposed to Neptune 1st House, and Pisces being in the 3rd House. When loss of a loved one is experienced, the actual embodied person is not here any longer; however, the inner object continues to exist, and it continues to constellate the affects, feelings and emotions that existed for the person before the loss. The psyche can become overly invested in the inner object that ‘represents’ the loved one that has been lost. The overinvestment of these inner objects In Dampier´s chart is reflected in Mercury/Saturn square the nodes, being in the 8th House, and of course, in Pluto being Gemini. One situation that leads to such over-investment of the inner object, are unresolved emotions or conflicts that pre-exist to the loss; thus, the inner relation with the inner object constellates the nature of the conflict. Has this been the case in some of the mourning experiences coming into Dampier’s life from his Soul’s evolutionary past? Yes, because, as we have seen in Dampier´s, and in Darwin’s chart, the Soul has been inwardly defined by a conflict between going on his own, and being in relationships, in which relationships, and family ties, have been experienced as a limitation to the freedom to explore and actualize the Soul’s felt special destiny. Prior to these types of loss, a conflict existed in relation with mother figures during the transition from matriarchy to patriarchy, because of the existing desires to be validated from a social point of view, which implied a Soul’s betrayal to the mother or feminine authorities and the knowledge they represented. This has been talked about in more detail in prior posts about Darwin; in Dampier’s chart, this correlates with the Saturn/Mercury in Cancer squaring the nodes in the 8th House, with the South Node in the 11th Aquarian House, etc. Freud postulated that ‘pathological mourning’ originated in an inner identification with the lost object, ie. identification with someone who is dead, which prevented a release of the psychic energy invested on the lost object. I think Freud was wrong in this point. My shot would be that, at least in some cases, it is quite the contrary. It is the resistance to identify with the lost object, ie. the preexisting conflict with the object or an overall emotional detachment or repression, that the mourner fails to experience its own death or necessary transformation that is demanded by the loss-and by the relationship itself. Thus, the inner object is preserved, and the emotions originating in the loss are not fully experienced. In turn, preservation of the inner object intensifies a ‘conflict with reality’, to a point that can become psychotic to some level, in that the pathological mourner or melancholic does not end to assume the loss, and the conflict with the object remains unresolved. In Dampier’s chart, Mercury/Saturn squaring the nodes, in Cancer in the 8th House, being the background which creates the extremity between wanting relationships, or not, and the variety of responses discussed.

These are also symbols of weariness, and acedia, which have impacted on relationships. Relative to Pluto 7th House, Mercury/Saturn square the nodes correlate with wanting the fruit, but not the path to the fruit. It is not lack of love, it is an intensified desire for the object which, though, complicates its path to the object desired, to a point in which the desired object is simultaneously rejected because it seems too difficult to attain-such as the demands of a wife-especially if the choice of the wife has been unwise; or, alternatively-Mercury is very dual-it is so concerned with the cares or the path that lead to the desired object, that it becomes incapable to enjoy the fruit when it is available.

Because of these types of prior dynamics, the Soul of Dampier has created quite a big deal of complications in its patterns of relatedness in this series of lifetimes, as a means to recreate many times dynamics of loss and mourning, and guilt and atonement. The resulting weariness and futility in Dampier´s Soul has thus created a relative paralysis in these relationship oriented lifetimes-Mercury/Saturn square the nodes-equaling a resistance to give the necessary steps that would progressively serve to actualize its desires for knowledge and discovery. This has also created a series of complications in the actualization of its career, work, or social role through independent actualization. This is why the Mercury/Saturn square to the nodes resolves through the North Node in the 5th House Aries, ruled by Mars in the 10th House conjunct Vesta, relative to the Pluto polarity point in the 1st House Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter in the 12th House. And thus, because of choices made in his life as Dampier, he in fact did quite a bit of exploration through his career as a pirate, naturalist and cartographer, and navigated around the world three times.

It seems that little is known by historians about Dampier’s sentimental life. It is known though, that he once married a woman called Judith, the year 1678. It seems he had no offspring from this marriage. I haven’t found the date of the marriage, nor any information about Judith, other than she worked at some court. That year, though, transiting Mars and Venus conjuncted at 25° Taurus, within minutes before the exact natal Venus of Dampier. I don’t know what happened in this marriage. However, that same year Dampier sailed to sea again, and it is not known (or I don’t know) if he ever returned to the married life. Perhaps he became quickly aware that he needed the freedom he couldn’t have within the marital life; perhaps he sailed to sea in order to accomplish feats for his lady. Did Dampier continue to engage in relationships with prostitutes? It is very possible that the answer is yes, based on the symbols already commented. Apart from prostitutes, would he try to manage to have sex with women who were slaves that were traded aboard his ship? Some HIStorians state that Dampier-and other English pirates-treated women slaves very well. This can mean several things. With Mercury 8th House, ruling the 7th House Gemini with Pluto Gemini-Mercury conjunct the 2nd House ruler, and ruled by the Moon in the 9th House, and further, Mars/Vesta in the 10th House Libra ruled by Venus in the 6th House-both the 8th and the 6th House correlating with slavery, it seems to me that he would have desired to have sex with some of these women.

Very briefly, we can see in Darwin’s chart that some of the complications in personal and intimate relationships, and its implication with criteria about reality within relationships, have been resolved at least to some degree, resulting from choices made in the prior life as Dampier. Not totally resolved, because Mercury Pisces, Balsamic to Pluto in the 3rd House, is still the ruler of Gemini on the 7th House cusp (also, Dulcinea/Black Moon are in the 7th House, with Don Quixote squaring the nodes from the 8th House), and the Mars in Libra square to the planetary nodes in House 1st and 7th correlating with stress within socialization of knowledge, and the adjustment of sexuality to socially valid parameters. However, Mercury is no longer squaring the nodes, and is now culminating a cycle. It seems that Darwin made a wise and realistic choice when marrying his second cousin Emma- despite his fears about incest, and did spend quite happy times with the family he had with her-even though, as we know, they did experience intense grief and mourning through recreating experiences of loss of children. On the overall, in this lifetime as Darwin there is no such intense intellectual complication about relationships issues, which allowed to create an intense focus on knowledge of Nature itself. Since I didn’t mention this before, the stress in socialization of knowledge within parameters versus freedom to ‘know’ and discover, is also a very intense dynamic in the prior lifetime as Dampier. In Dampier’s birthchart, this is symbolized too in the Mars 10th House Libra square to the nodes of Pluto, and by Pluto 7th House being Gemini, opposing Neptune/Uranus in the 1st House Sagittarius, and ruled by Mercury/Saturn square the nodes. Because Pluto Gemini is ruled by Mercury square the nodes, ruling the 7th House and the intercepted Virgo in the 9th House, and because Venus is in the 6th House, Dampier would feel that he didn’t know or understand enough, and would inwardly feel to be less than honest if trying to present his scientific or philosophical views to the public. Thus, the focus of that lifetime was more about travelling and making observations, and writing about his journeying rather than a general theoretical elaboration (Mercury in the 8th House in Cancer suggests that an intellectual system was being gestated). Darwin continued doing travelling when he was young, but with the Pisces Mercury Balsamic to Pluto/Jupiter, now it was rather about culminating the need for observation, and more about giving form, order and classifications, and further, intuiting the general patterns within an enormous amount of information already collected, ie. to articulate an overall theory, as we know. Now the Soul is deeply reflective and inwardly attuned in order to create a progressive, linear order of materials already collected. It would be as if the early travelling he did had the intention of picking the ‘examples’ –Mercury- that his Soul knew would serve to prove the patterns he had been elaborating along prior lifetimes, including the life as Dampier, on which he would be elaborating along several years to come until the Origin of Species. It is very interesting that, because the need for external exploration was now more or less completed in this cycle, and the intellectual focus was directed to the inner world of knowledge that needed to be given a concrete form, this by itself allowed for a type of life that was also more emotionally sound. Not totally, of course, because there was still many unresolved issues, and stress about how to present the material in the way it needed to, in order to fulfill the social role his Soul had. But, this could be done in the context of a family life, as Darwin did-something that perhaps Dampier was not able to put together. And this, in turn, implied a lifetime in which the unresolved mourning and traumas would manifest and be recreated in more direct, conscious ways (Mercury/Ceres/Pluto Balsamic conjunct, trine Uranus conjunt the North Node). And, because Pluto/Jupiter are New phase within the 3rd House Pisces, while Pluto/Mercury are Balsamic, the creation of a linear order, serving to demonstrate the general patterns or natural laws (Virgo intercepted in the 9th House, Jupiter/Mercury Balsamic), would in turn promote or trigger a new cycle in which the Soul of Darwin would desire to intuit patterns behind the patterns, laws behind the laws, leading to an inner pondering about the Creator of all things, thus beginning to emotionally open to what could ultimately address the unresolved mourning issues-Soul and ultimate meaning of life, beyond the temporal and finite.
