I still havent grasped the idea of progressed charts.  Even in the other astrology communities, people are debating whether they have any significance or not.  How does EA view progressions?  Can progressed chart affect the individual more than the natal chart?  Like for example if a person with pisces mars who was a pushover his entire life get his mars progressed to aries, will he stop being so weak and become more assertive and action oriented?  How can an individual be seen taking account of both the progressed chart and natal chart together?

Progressions are a 'derived' system in astrology wherein there are different ways to derive at progressed planets. The most common is called 'a day for a year'. This is very different that actual transits of the planets which of course are ACTUAL. JWG did not put much stock in progressions himself but of course left it up to each individual to determine whether they were useful or not.

Any system of progressions must refer the progressed planet to the actual natal chart: without doing that progressed planets have no actual meaning in and of themselves. The natal chart is the 'context', the individual reality, through which the progressed planets are referred too. Once that is understood then questions like you asked about the natal mars and it progression can be understood correctly.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense.
