Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions about mars in relation to charts whose north or south nodes are in scorpio.
Since mars is the lower octave of pluto and historically was considered to be co-ruler of scorpio, what would be the implications on mars in a chart whose nodal axis is in taurus/scorpio. Would it function like a co-ruler to the node in scorpio? For example, if venus, the ruler of taurus and mars were in opposition in such a chart, would that indicate that the past and future were in opposition, similar to the situation where the rulers of the nodes are in opposition? Or would any planet that is in opposition to the ruler of the north node be seen as working in opposition to the north node purposes?

Any thoughts would be helpful. I seem to work with a lot of charts with taurus/scorpio nodes and always have this question in regards to how mars functions in the chart.

Hi JJ,

Here is a link to a lecture by JWG that is about the relationship of Mars to Pluto:

In EA Mars is the ruler of Aries, Ascendant, and the 1st House. So when you see the Nodes in Scorpio that does not mean that it has a co-ruler with Pluto. As you will read in the article Mars, the 1st House, and Aries all correlate to how the desires of the Soul get instinctually acted up via the current life ego, Moon, and the subjective consciousness therein. When the rulers of the N. and S Nodes are opposed it generally means the Soul must throw off some existing inner dynamics, to inwardly oppose them which also manifests as circumstances creating apparent opposition to the Soul's intentions as symbolized in those planets, Nodes, in order for the Soul's evolution to proceed. Any planets in opposition, including the N.Node also correlate with this evolutionary need to throw off something, to oppose it, in order to evolution to proceed via those dynamics.

 God Bless, Rad
