Transitional aspects and phases

Hello all,

In the dvd school- during the section on planetary phases, Jeff spoke about Swami Kriyananda's crescent phase Sun Moon square.
Quote, "he moved in that life from that last stage of the crescent to the first quarter"

He clarified that of course the phase didn't change. The archetype of the phase in the natal chart is the active archetype for the entire incarnation.

I just want to clarify my understanding of what Jeff meant by that statement:
In regards to any aspect, if it is at a transitional point (ie a conjunction, opposition, semi square, sesquisquare, or square occurring at the end of a phase), implies that this particular lifetime is about doing what work is necessary in order to bring about a completion of that phase. This innately means the necessity to surrender to what needs to happen FIRST before moving forward in the way that's symbolized by the proceeding phase.

When the the appropriate actions, or non actions are taken in this regard, then it seems that the rest of the life can have the quality of the next phase by way of things working out the way they are supposed to. Meaning, the work has been done, now everything can unfold on it's own. Is this an accurate understanding?
Thank you,
Ari Moshe
