My query is:

From the attached chart, natal Pluto sextiles Mercury indicating that this function recently came under an intensified evolutionary impulse.

With transiting Pluto sextiling natal Mercury, the aspect now appears to be waning, in the balsamic phase.

This doesn't make sense to me.

Obviously there is more work to do with Mercury.

Do waxing/waning phases apply to transiting Pluto?

Can you please comment on this?

[ I've wanted to ask this question for so long.  Huh  Grin ]

Thanks!

Hi Linda,

This is a very good question I am glad you asked. We too have been  confused about these things at first, and I'm sure many are not just you.

So lets clarify this in a simple way:
yes of course the waning /vaxing aspect applies to transits...however the natal chart itself and the transits on the other hand are are two different things and they are correlating to different scemes of things.

The natal chart refers to the entire life span....the whole life....versus transits, which are only referring to chapters within that life time....so that's why they are on a different scale....

With an analogue, the natal chart is like a study plan for an entire "course" so to speak ...lets say a 4 year degree course just for the example's sake:-) .....so within that course there will be many steps, many milestones to be passed..... and those steps will then culminate.....these are the transits: they are the "tests" and the "exams" within the "course"......of course, without passing them  one can't finish the course.....so they are important in their own place, but not to be missed with the entire "course" ......

Every chapter in our lives has lessons etc...they have beginning, culmination, end....and then another new chapter comes...these are the natural cycles in our lives which are signified by the transits...whatever the transit aspects may be, they only relate to that chapter of life...some cycles are a few years long some other maybe 10 or 20 years, but still they are just the details within the whole....the whole is the natal chart....

Hope this is clear?

And this is why transits meeds to be compared in a particular way to the natal chart....again these two different things on different scales so we need to keep that in mind: natal chart is the bigger picture, transits relate to the details within that .....so when considering transits we always use the natal chart and all of it's symbols as base line......simply because that's the natal chart...well, as such it simply DOESN'T move, it is fixed....even fifty years from now your natal chart placements will be the same...so all transits compared to the natal chart. Each planet wherin are fix points...

If you look at it this way, it will become clear that the specific transit you are referring to is actually not a culminating one, it happens to be a new sextile....because of the above.
Mercury as a natal planet is the baseline, and transiting pluto moves around it....

Hope this helps?

Blessings,
Lia

great analogy. and it makes me wonder, given your example was a 4 year one, does ea have anything to say about life span? or is that generally relative to karma, free will, and evolutionary causes/intent?

Hi Ari,

Well the 4 year course was just an example for most uni courses are 4 years:-) ...
Anyhow, EA does give some clues to life span too...karma in general and karmic tendencies of course are reflected in the chart....however as you said, the choices we make relative to any evolutionary intent does make a difference...in general each case needs to be looked at individually as always, before anything concrete can be said...

Lia:

Thank you for explaining the purpose of transits and
transits relative to the baseline natal planet.
