Annual Inner Planet Nodal Patterns and Meaning of Triple Conjunctions
After time to process and reflect, I decided that the following simplistic lists for the annual movement(ingresses) of both the planetary nodes of Mercury and Venus might be helpful to realize this simple repeatative cycle that each planet’s nodes go through annually. (Note: as explained in previous posts, when we look back over millenia, these ingresses and nodal conjunctions shift slowly)
Starting with Mercury: Keep in mind that the reason we can look at, refer to such a list is that this is really, more or less, within a day, the annual ingress pattern of these nodes for everyone alive on the planet right now. I say more or less because some years they could fall on the neighboring day - still we will be able to immediately tell if the nodes are cusp or which sign they actually do fall into.

These “bare bones” annual movement of the nodes of Mercury and Venus can be used in your daily work by cutting and pasting, printing and shrinking to tape or paste into Ephemeris/planner you carry around. Or have them up on the wall, etc. Just some ideas about how to start learning and memorizing the movement patterns.
By being astrologers, we(most likely) know that there are two types of conjunctions with the sun an inner planet makes. Astronomically, these are the ‘inferior’ and ‘superior’ conjunctions. Basically, visualize the solar system in your mind. At the times of these conjunctions, one can draw a straight line and connect the sun, venus, and earth. If Venus is in between the sun and earth, this is the inferior conjunction. And when Venus is on the far side of the sun from us, this is the superior conjunction. During the inferior conjunction of Venus to the sun, Venus is as closer to earth then any planet gets. Venus, at this time, is also seen from earth to be moving rapidly backwards, aka ‘retrograde’. So quick, in fact, this retrograde close approach conjunction(inferior conjunction) lasts a mere few days. On the other hand, when Venus has reached it’s farthest position from earth, conjunct and on the other side of the sun, this “superior” conjunction lasts about 2 months. If we go back to Pluto II and read over the section on those born with Venus Retrograde and consider the above, we realize that it is both Venus’s retrograde motion and closest proximity that connects with this highly emphasized evolving inner relationship. Following this thought, could we not conclude that the two types of Venus sun conjunctions then are related to Taurus/2nd house “inner side” of Venus and the Libra/7th house “outer side” of Venus? Clearly, this is what the astronomical positioning reflects back/correlates to.
Why am I bringing this up now? What does this have to do with the nodes? Consider this: two times a year, the north and south nodes of these inner planets are conjunct. This conjunction is also occurring at the same location as the sun. Or, to say it another way, twice a year, the sn and nn of Venus and the sun all conjunct. Same for Mercury.
So, how is this possible. Visualize the solar system again. What is happening? The only possible location of the nodes at these conjunctions is in a straight line, just like described above. So, at these two moments a year when Venus’s nodes and the Sun conjunct, we can start from the earth and draw a straight line toward the sun, which would exactly cross both the nodes as it continues to be drawn, first the near node, then through the sun, and finally crossing the far node. Now, here is the tie in: Nodes are opposite in the actual orbit....so which node is closest (inferior) conjunct the sun and which node is in the superior(far side of the sun) conjunct the sun? How can we know this?
Simply going back up and looking at the annual movement gives the answer. For Venus, with the triple conjunction of sn Venus, Sun, and nn of Venus all at approx. 15 Gemini, the south node is moving very very rapidly.....just like when Venus in retrograde. So, is clear that from late May through the month of June that the sn of Venus is closest to the earth. On the triple conjunction at 15 Gemini, it is the south node of Venus which is closest to the earth - like the retrograde Venus conjunction to the sun. What the heck does this have to do with Evolutionary Astrology? Everything - here we have more information on the past and future inner and outer evolving relationship one has to their self and others. For the above situation, especially around the time of the conjunction, relative to the south node being at it’s closest to earth, would this tell us that the soul is coming from evolving their inner relationship with their self and now is at a point of making it’s life purpose(sun conjuction) to then learn to relate outwardly in a similar manner it has evolved in how it relates to itself. Applying the sign context, we see those born on and around Sun @ 15 Gemini have been asking for lifetimes so many questions about their self, their own needs, their own values, how they listen to their self, relate to their self, gathering information about their core nature, feelings, survival. And it is now aligned with their life purpose to apply all this into their outer relationships. That is, learning to ask others the same types of questions they have inwardly been asking their self for so long.
Next, the other triple conjunction of nn Venus, sun, and sn of Venus occurs each year @ appox. December 8th at about 16 Sagittarius. In this case, it is the south node that is at the farthest from the sun, so these souls have come in having evolved their own inner truths by constantly comparing and contrasting with other’s version of the truths. For lifetimes, relating and listening to others stories, philosophies, views, perspectives. Now, it is their own life purpose(sun conjunction) to evolve their own personal meaning of the truth. It is time to internalize what their own core values are on how they can live in a way that is natural for them to be able to survive while growing into an inner resonance of their own truth about it. No longer needing to “try on other’s hats” so to speak. It is time to step into and live their own truth. They have lifetimes, resonating from the past, to draw upon.
All of the above, of course, must always be applied back to the core Pluto Paradigm signature and taking into account the house position of these triple conjunctions and if they are also making any direct aspects to Pluto, the nodes and rulers of the nodes. If so, this would be a case where one may have wanted to apply the “sun” to other lifetimes; yet it is only because of the sun’s exact alignment with the nodes of Venus.
Comparing Mercury and Venus, it is because Venus comes so close and goes so much farther than Mercury gets to earth that Venus’s motion and timing of these conjunctions is more extreme. Just look at the nodal movement of each: Clearly Venus moves the quickest when it is at it’s zoom by the earth side. Mercury’s movements are, overall, more constant. Not to say we can not determine the same for Mercury.
In the case of Mercury’s nodes and their triple conjunctions(sn Mercury, Sun, nn Mercury) they also occur each year at the same time, relative to everyone alive on the planet right now. As seen above, these times are: On or next to May 9th at approx. 18 Taurus and some odd degrees. On or next to November 11th at 18 Scorpio and some odd degrees.
Again, the only way all three of these points could be visually seen at the same location is if the Earth, each node of Mercury, and the Sun were all connected by one straight line(if you are visualizing the solar system) So, again, one of the nodes will be on the near side to earth in Mercury’s orbit, while simultaneously the other is on the far side.
What we know of the 3 times a year that Mercury gets soo close to the Earth is that the mind is inwardly focused. Thus, those born with Mercury retrograde conjunct the sun have Mercury on the near side(inferior conjunction). Those born with Mercury conjunct the sun with Mercury direct---Mercury is at it’s farthest from the sun. If we combine the inner and outer focus here, as we already know, those with the “superior conjunction” of Mercury and the Sun have minds that are asking questions and projecting outwardly their mental energy. And the reverse, the “inferior conjunction” of Mercury and the Sun, which happens 3 times a year is always during the Mercury retrograde period. At these times, the mental energy is clearly inwardly directed.
So, those born on or near May 9th each year have this triple conjunction of the nodes of Mercury and the Sun. On this date, it is the south node of Mercury which is in between (closest to) Earth and the Sun and the north node of Mercury is on the far side of the sun. What does this mean? Relative to being in Taurus, these folks have been asking a lot questions of their own values, talking to themselves, inquiring how they can survive and be self sufficient. All of these questions, for lifetimes, have been contained and limited to within their own mind. Now, it is part of their current life purpose to learn to pose these questions outside of their self. Learn to ask others what they most value and how they survive. Surely, we could go on and expand upon this, but this is getting long and the goal is to pass on the conceptual understanding of what is happening.
Those born on and around November 11th, during the triple conjunction of the north and south node of Mercury and the Sun in Scorpio at approx. 18 degrees Scorpio have the south node of Mercury on the far side of the Sun. So, relative to their current life purpose, it is now time for them to learn to ask the same questions of why life, why death, why sex, why why why inside their self. To internalize this conversation which has been, for lifetimes carried out via outside sources. (sn Mercury superior conjunction). Of course, we must take into account the house position relative the the whole of the Pluto paradigm.
Rad and All, This above, more or less, came into the consciousness last night and this morning. It resonated as truth and I really hope it is presented in a simple enough way for others to ‘get’ the conceptual understanding. If some of this presented does not resonate as truth or needs adjusting, please let me know. It is a joy to part of the expanding material of EA.
