Hi Upasika, Gray, Ari, and Gonzalo,

We will begin work again on the EA of JWG'S planetary method starting on Monday involving Jupiter in Darwin's chart.

Hi Upasika, Gray, Ari, and Gonzalo,

Ok, so we will now proceed in our next step in the planetary method which is Jupiter, Sagittarius, and the 9th House.

These archetypes all correlate with how any given Soul interprets the phenomenal nature of the Creation. These archetypes correlate to the consciousness of the Soul that makes it aware that it is related or connected to 'something' that is mush larger than itself. They generate the awareness that the very planet, called Earth by humans, is connected to the total Creation itself because of being able to see all the constellations around the earth: the stars in the sky. It is this awareness that then leads to the consciousness of the Soul to wonder, ponder, speculate as to what all this means, to what is the very nature of Creation itself. This natural wondering and pondering takes place within the right hemisphere of the brain that is naturally abstract and conceptual: non linear.

This natural process, archetype, within the consciousness of the Soul not only leads to knowledge, a natural knowledge of the nature of the Creation, but also to beliefs that are nothing but projections upon the Nature of the Creation that have no actual basis is the actual reality of the Creation. These beliefs result in the need from the consciousness of the Soul in human form to have a larger or higher meaning for life itself beyond the daily struggle to live and survive. This quest and need for a higher meaning is of course rooted in the fact that consciousness is aware of the perceived cosmos, the stars around our Earth, that creates the awareness of connectedness to something much larger that the planet upon which we all stand.

Beliefs are not the same as knowledge. When a Soul has actual knowledge of something, to know, there is no need to 'believe' in that something because it is in fact known. When something is not actually known yet that something is inherent to what is perceived by consciousness then the Soul will create or invent beliefs in order to feel that is knows that which it does not know: the underlying need in all Soul's to feel secure.

This is, sadly, why one of the greatest problems for humans, humanity, is the capacity to literally believe in anything in order to feel secure, to 'rationalize' their behavior because of the nature of the invented beliefs.

Historically speaking, humans for the majority of it's time on Earth, did not invent cosmological 'beliefs' until the time that they began to settle into farming communities that progressively left behind the nomadic way of living that defined it's long history before learning how to farm manifested. This happened around 7,000 B.C.E. From that time forwards humans progressively began to essentially invent cosmological, religious, beliefs that were then projected upon the very nature of the phenomenal Creation. All humans thus have their S.Node of Jupiter in Capricorn, along with Saturn and Pluto, that directly correlates to this time frame relative to the transition of the Ages: the Capricorn/ Cancer Age and sub-age.

All humans have their S.Node of Uranus in Sagittarius at the same time that reflects this transition from nomadic, natural, living to beginning to gather into farming communities: the N.Nodes of Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all being in Cancer. With the N.Node of Uranus being in Gemini we can now see the symbolism wherein humans evolved into these agricultural communities that then lead to the whole speculation of ideas, Gemini, of a philosophical nature, Sagittarius. In combination these then led to projected religions with all the attending moralities, of rights an wrongs, that allowed humans to live together in increasingly organized wholes: agricultural communities that ultimately became nationalized, races, of people that, in the end, became the countries that we know today.

Beliefs can of course be used that actually leads to knowledge: the very case we are now studying, Darwin, is a testimony to that fact wherein he would inwardly conceive or postulate something within his consciousness and then set out to 'prove' it in the various scientific, various measurements of an empirical nature, way. Thus, this natural process can then lead to banishing or liberating from projected beliefs by way of the actual knowledge that these various systems of empirical measurement lead too: The Origin of the Species in Darwin's case.

On an inner basis within consciousness the Soul also has the capacity to know the very nature of the Creation, and thus the origins of itself, by way of certain empirical methods that allow it to do so: the secret of the breath for example. This then leads to actual knowledge versus any need to 'believe' anything relative to the nature of the manifested Creation at all.

All Souls coming through time have an evolutionary need, desire, to know the very nature of themselves, and the very nature of Creation itself. In each life the Soul thus orientates too specific types of cultures that have their own consensus beliefs to be born into for it's own evolutionary reasons and needs. Yet, at the same time, these consensus beliefs that the Soul in born into interfaces within the Soul the desire, need, to actually KNOW what is true, and that which is not true. Again, this knowing can be very different that what the nature of the consensus beliefs are. This can of course create a deep internal conflict within Soul's that have evolved beyond the consensus state of evolution.

For Soul's that have evolved beyond the consensus state of evolution this then leads to a progressive rebelling or rejections of consensus beliefs of any kind that is set in motion by the desire within the Soul to actually KNOW that which is true, and not true from the point of view of the Natural Laws that we set in motion by the Creation Of All Things itself.

We can now to apply these archetypes to Darwin's evolutionary journey. We know that his Soul is in the 3rd stage of the individuated state. We know the culture, and thus consensus beliefs, of his birth. We also have a slight glimmer of the Soul of Darwin in a prior life as William Dampier that lead to being Darwin so that we can see the evolutionary background, and thus progression, from life to life. For example, Dampier had his natal Jupiter in Sagittarius in his 12th, which, for Darwin correlated to his Sagittarius Saturn/Neptune conjunction in his 12th House.

So let us now examine exactly the very nature of the types of knowledge, to know, that the Soul of Darwin has desired, and the very nature of the beliefs that he had that would then lead to his need, desire, to know. We need to focus on the following symbols in order to know this:

His S.Node of Uranus in is Sagittarius conjunct his S.Node of Mars in his first house. These are then ruled by his Jupiter in Pisces in his 3rd which of course is conjunct the very nature of his evolving Soul structure: Pluto in Pisces. And these, of course, are taking place within the context of all his other 3rd house Pisces Planets, his Venus in Aries as well. His Jupiter is in a new phase relative to his Pluto, and his Pluto is squaring his natal Saturn/Neptune conjunction in his 12th, Neptune being the ruler of his Jupiter. These two planets are also inconjunct his S.Node of Taurus in his 5th that is ruled by his Venus in Aries in the 3rd, which is then trine those two planets. Sagittarius in on his Ascendant, and his has Leo on his 9th House cusp which is then ruled by his Aquarius Sun in his 2nd House which is ruled by his Uranus in Scorpio on his N.Node in his 11th.

If you have any questions please ask them of me know.

Analysis of Darwin's Jupiter.
Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd. New phase conjunction with Pluto. Balsamic phase with Mercury. Jupiter in mututal reception with Saturn and Neptune in Sag in the 12th conj the AC.
Jupiter gibbous phase sesquiquadrate to the north node. Sag ruler of 1st house.
Leo on the 9th ruled by the Sun in Aquarius in the 2nd which is ruled by Uranus on the nn in Scorpio in the 11th.

South node of Uranus in sag in the 1st, conjunct sn of Mars, both ruled by Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd.
South node of Jupiter in Capricorn in the 1st house, ruled by Saturn in Sag in the 12th. SN of Jupiter conjunct Moon and square Mars in Libra in the 10th as well as IC/MC axis and Venus in Aries in the 3rd on the IC.

North node of Jupiter in Gemini in the 7th squares MC/IC axis and Venus in Aries in the 3rd on the IC as well as natal Jupiter itself.

This soul has first intuitively sensed that there are inherent principals (Jupiter) that can explain the seeming chaos of the environment (Pisces 3rd). This intuition was a simple matter of knowing from within, that there exists an underlying and universal truth that can empirically explain how and why phenomenal reality is the way it is. Given the placement of Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd, the soul was naturally aware of the prevailing social opinions and beliefs - and relative to the new phase conjunction with Pluto this soul would not have been satisfied, or capable, with merely accepting any of that at face value. The intention for this soul has been to see the bottom line and the weak point in the cosmological constructs that define most people's outlook on reality. He would have been emotionally tuned into to, and quite sensitive to where empirical logical thinking was used to justify pre-established beliefs. As has been discussed previously, in prior lives and in the early life of Darwin, this soul has truly sought out to conclude for himself the beliefs of the religious outlook at the time. He has attempted to prove these beliefs to himself so as to create some sense of security and meaning in his life. This of course only lead to disillusionment and disappointment as more data, more facts about reality seemed to become more of an elephant in the room (Jupiter) that were in contradiction to the religious conclusions.

The evolutionary intention within the life of Darwin was to refine the observations that had been made, many of which in prior life times, and to make the necessary inner adjustments that would allow this soul to establish the conclusions that are logically and scientifically sound and fit. Jupiter gibbous sesquiquad to the nn in Scorpio in the 11th. With the ruler of the nn conj Uranus and ruled by Pluto which is with Jupiter it implies the immensity of focus within this soul to observe and correlate.

The implications of the gibbous phase sesquisquare here is that this was a transitional life - one where the Jupiter function of interpretation and understanding needed to become clarified and developed through inner focus and analysis. This implies that prior to the life of Darwin there have been lots of data collection and scientific observations as to the nature of reality, and that the life of Darwin itself was about developing greater humility and awareness of personal limitation, as the gibbous sesquiquadrate produces a strong "take care of the details" kind of energy - which for this soul would imply a narrowing, slowing down of his seeking and traveling and a focusing inward to synthesize/develop of all that he had found. He would have naturally gone through periods of great self doubt, feeling overloaded with information and a frequent reaction to go out and gather even more data and to ask even more question. However for this soul the real growth was in working with what he had already found and checking to see if the tested data confirms his own intuitions. This is in fact what he had done. The fact that this gibbous phase is so new really implies that there had been a great amount of scientific explorations and charting of data in prior lives - as per the first quarter phase, it was about actualizing his creativity in the world. Now in the life of Darwin, the gibbous phase required a deep turning within and to finalize any intuitions he has had with concrete and tested scientific evidence, proof.

At his evolutionary stage the core intention has been to think for himself, and to venture out alone and figure it out by himself. The sn of Jupiter in Capricorn in the 1st, squaring Mars in Libra in the 10th as well as the MC IC axis and Venus has a number of implications. It describes the overarching past of this Jupiter function: how this soul has formulated his own understanding of reality and the kinds of beliefs/dogmas that have come through that. Also, since every culture/time has its own cosmology, it describes how this soul's own understanding was shaped/affected by the current beliefs of the time. This soul has required a great amount of freedom and independence to establish and determine for himself what the truth is. He has navigated the terrains of unmapped, not-yet classified data (Jupiter sn in first relative to Pisces in the third) and has created definition (Capricorn, 10th house square, Saturn in Sag in the 12th with Neptune) for what was previously wild and unclassified. The ruler of the Jupiter sn is Saturn in a balsamic conjunction with Neptune and are both ruled by Jupiter. This soul has been dissolving all kinds of rigid, calcified thinking about reality that only served the purpose of creating security in the context of the unknown - and at the same time coming up with various conclusions that reflect the structural nature of reality as it is, not as others would believe it to be. For several lifetimes he has been en route to establishing his authority as a guide, traveler, charter of unknown places - and in so doing has provided an expanded context for the masses to understand the larger world in which they live.

Coming into the life of Darwin it's clear that there were simply strong desires to continue in that direction towards an all encompassing understanding. The truth seeking in the life of Darwin took more the shape of understanding a grand thesis of creation that explains the actual nature of things. This is an evolution relative to the actual discovery and mapping of land. This Jupiter function was now setting forth to create actual conclusions about the bigger philosophical/cosmological picture - meaning less seeking and more finding. This has satisfied within the soul to some extent the timeless yearning within to reconcile with the seeming meaninglessness of reality and his own existence.

This soul naturally took it upon himself to become single focused and committed to the goal of finding what he was seeking - Jupiter sn in Cap in the 1st. Conjuct Cap Moon in the 2nd, brings in all the correlations already spoken to: hermiting, creating a safe home environment for deep internalization and emotional safety which is something the soul deeply needed during the life of Darwin after such a strong soul history of being emotionally unstable. The sn of Jupiter squares Mars and the MC implying the sensitivity within this soul to define his comsmology and navigate his own sense of direction and purpose in this life with respect to the social customs and norms of society; that he has felt pressured from within himself to have the answers and achieve the goal of his seeking. What's implied in this are issues around his own authority and certainty of the truth. A few things I can see here:
One is where he was dogmatic and controlling of his own ideas; to the point of not being open to other points of views. He has defended those ideas in a very childish way to reflect his emotional identification with them: 1st house squaring IC in Aries, and has also amassed a following of other people who adopted this soul as their own authority: Jupiter in Pisces with its sn squaring the MC in Libra as well as the Saturn 12th correlations. The bottom line insecurity within this soul of not knowing and feeling lost because of that not knowing - Pluto Jupiter in Pisces - lead him to formulate strong conclusive ideas that he was certain of and to hold that very firmly - sn of Jupiter in Cap in the 1st.

His ideas about nature would also "validate and prove" the prevailing assumptions of the times regarding gender and sexuality. Meaning, his own relationship to his sexuality, his identity as a man and assumptions about gender and gender roles affected the kinds of conclusions he ended up with.

What I see from these square aspects is also that he has been learning how to apply his ideas in a way that is in cooperation with how society functions - so he has needed to repress his desire for absolute freedom and authority and also learn how to fit in, to socialize well, to know how to relate to all different kinds of people: all the Mars in Libra in the 10th dynamics that have been previously addressed here. Sexually, he has given himself the right to pursue the gratification that he wanted - possibly creating children in foreign land that he abandoned as a result of his sexual adventures. This is implied, in addition to the sn of Mars being in Sag in the 1st, with the sn of Jupiter in Cap in the 1st squaring natal Mars and Venus on the IC. Courting and being attractive to lots of women, having quick sexual encounters and then moving on. The issue around ethics, responsibility and family come up with the strong Capricorn emphasis. This has contributed to the guilt within this soul which has lead to an incredibly conservative sexual nature in the life of Darwin. Note in Dampier's chart, the gibbous phase sesquiquadrate between Saturn in Cancer in the 8th and Jupiter in Sag in the 12.

The north node of Darwin's Jupiter is in Gemini in the 7th, which is ruled by mercury in a balsamic conjuction with Pluto and also squares Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd. This corresponds to the evolutionary development for this soul to ever question his assumptions/conclusions/certainty through the realization that there are always more points of views and data to take into account. This humbles the soul's pattern of needing to find some sort of answer in order to feel emotionally secure. The evolutionary imperative within this is to ultimately realize that the mind itself will never reach a finitude state of certainty regarding what is true; all of his conclusions can be challenged with more information. Even what he has intuitied to be truth is only a part of the total truth, not the entirety of it. Thus, this soul will be exposed to other people that offer counter perspectives/cosmologies that contradict what Darwin has come to find as totally true. The attraction to such relationships and the curiosity of their foreign way of life/ way of thinking will ultimately lead Darwin to become directly exposed to an experience of reality that is beyond what he thought was true/ does not fit into to his organized idea of what is possible.

Hi Ari,

First, thanks for taking the time you have to do an EA analysis of why Darwin's chose to have his Jupiter in Pisces in the 3rd combined with all the other relevant Jupiter signatures that you have pointed out.

Your EA analysis is exceptionally sound, and very correct. In so doing you are helping all those who have come to read this thread on the planetary method of chart analysis. This is how EA is meant to be done.

Bravo !

Hi Gonzalo,

First, thanks for taking the time to work on this segment of planetary method of interpretation. Your EA analysis of how the inner workings of Darwin's consciousness manifesting in his mind, or intelligence, from his evolutionary past, and the reasons for that, which you then brilliantly interfaced with the life of Darwin wherein it all began to come together, new phase Pluto/Jupiter, is just brilliant EA work. The very essence of what you have presented is the difference between 'beliefs' versus actual knowing. And it is that actual knowing, the core desire within the Soul of Darwin, that finally lead to his revolutionary/ evolutionary work called the Origin of the Species.

Your presentation of the inner process within Darwin that lead to his seminal work, from the past to the present, is simply incredible. This is how EA is meant to be done. In so doing, you are helping, along with the others in our little group here, all others who have, and do, come to this thread to read, and to learn.

Brilliant EA work Gonzalo.

Bravo !!

 Hi Rad,

Apologies it takes me such a long time to post sometimes, there has been a lot on as I gradually transition back into better health, which isn't always a straightforward process. But finally managed to get it done.

Why Darwin's Jupiter is in Pisces in the 3rd House

One of the key characteristics of life as we know it is on-going renewal - from the ability of an organism to grow, and then give birth to a new baby, to new stars forming out of cosmic dust, to the continual expansion of the universe itself. In many ways it's this factor of becoming new, and of never-ending growth and movement, that appears to be central to life, what makes life "life". And Jupiter encapsulates and represents this possibly more than any of the other planets.

Generally survival is the most fundamental on-going process humans engage in, and takes place externally. But this doesn't happen in a vacuum - we are always surrounded by our environment. And (as Rad has described) gazing up at the stars at night has never failed to give rise to two other fundamental yet quite different processes a human being experiences, ones which take place internally.

Firstly, a sense of awe and wonder - awe at the vastness (Pisces/Neptune), and wonder at the meaning (Jupiter) of the experience - of what it means to simply be present and able to view such magnificence in the first place - a very inner process. One of the significant abilities that differentiates humans from animals is this ability to reflect and to be self-conscious. And while the arising of awe and wonder is not the only factor that induces self-awareness, it is a very significant one, as it also brings perspective to our daily existence by showing us how truly small we are in the entire scheme of things.

This in turn taps into the deepest need of human beings after physical survival - the need to feel secure (which arises from the sense of being separate). Physical survival is not enough to make us feel fully secure. We also seem to be in limbo - above animals yet so frail and small, still a tiny force existing within what appears to be an infinite universe, and this only further heightens the sense of being separate and alone. In response to this need to also feel secure inwardly as well as outwardly, a second fundamental inner process is activated - the process of trying to not feel isolated and instead to feel "connected".

In matriarchal times this need and it's resulting process induced a shamanistic response, a reverence for and simple worship of the seasons and elements and other natural phenomena, and used celebration (Jupiter) of what is as a means to feel connected to the total environment. And because this response was based in nature it reaffirmed the feeling of the natural connection mankind already has with Nature, and this in turn promoted a sense of being in the right place, an unassuming sense of oneness (Pisces). But since the advent of the patriarchy simple innocent wonder at the meaning of life turned into a desire to know what it meant to be alive, a search for understanding the reason for human existence. While the matriarchal response, based on revering and celebrating existence was a heart-based trusting response, the patriarchal reaction was based on intellect and doubt, and all the associated beliefs and other mental constructs the mind has created in that process.

So together Neptune, and then the Jupiter response (via matriarchal trust or patriarchal doubt), relate to the big picture. And along with the survival process (Saturn), within patriarchal times they correspond to humankind's predominate preoccupation - coping with the need to feel secure within this vastness of the universe. As Rad explained, in the consensus consciousness this manifests through "understanding" existence based on (the shortcut of) invented beliefs, so-called knowledge. Whereas those who are individuating look for understanding through inner and outer experimentation and validated empirical evidence, which is a much more arduous process for arriving at knowledge of anything, but produces an understanding that is aligned with actuality. And those in the spiritual stage move beyond the focus to understand reality, desiring instead direct union with existence itself.

Interestingly enough, Neptune and Jupiter are in a way key planets in Darwin's chart. This is because the Aquarius 2nd house points (Sun/Pallas/Chiron) are ruled by the Scorpio 11th house Uranus, which is ruled by the Pisces 3rd house Pluto (which along with all the other Pisces 3rd house Mercury/Ceres/Juno/Jupiter) is ruled by the Sagittarius 12th house Neptune (which along with all the other Sagittarius points Saturn/ASC/SNs of Uranus & Mars) is ruled by Jupiter, which is ruled by Neptune "¦ those two being in mutual reception, and so there the zodiac rulership trail stops, endlessly looping on those two planets. The only parts of the chart not disposited (ultimately ruled) by Jupiter or Neptune are "¦

a) the Capricorn 2nd house Moon - being ruled by Saturn (yet since Saturn is part of the rulership trail described above that drags the Moon into it anyway), and

b) the Taurus 5th house SN being ruled by Aries 3rd house Venus (which along with Vesta) is ruled by the Libra 10th house Mars, which is ruled by Venus (those two also being in mutual reception and endlessly looping on one another).

So it is only this last small SN/Venus/Mars cluster of energy that is truly outside the rulership chain of Jupiter and Neptune. This highlights that Jupiter and Neptune have become central to Darwin's whole chart in his life, and the reason for this stems from his very distant past.

******

We know that for many, many lives now Darwin has been focussed on mental experience and development (packed 3rd house stellium of Mercury, Pallas, Ceres, Juno, Jupiter and Pluto). But why was Jupiter in this 3rd house situation?

Firstly we can see as part of this, that whatever Darwin's beliefs (Jupiter) were, they were obviously enmeshed in this long history of mental development. Having such a stellium like that in the 3rd house would always indicate intense mental development had occurred prior to the current life for one reason or another - even if Pluto wasn't involved, it would just be to a lesser extent. But a major factor here with Pluto being involved shows us that this prior process of mental development has been deeply on-going, that it has become an issue at the core Soul level, a part of the Soul's evolutionary journey. And because beliefs belong to the mental realm, Darwin's beliefs will no doubt have roots in this process which has been unfolding throughout many recent past lives.

However another factor is that Jupiter is in a new conjunction to Pluto, which shows us a new cycle between Jupiter and Pluto is just beginning, because the entire previous cycle of development between these two planets has very recently culminated. Again, this points to a long succession of lives where the formation and development of beliefs and understanding has been playing out, and which very recently has completed. With Jupiter being at the beginning of a new cycle of understanding at the Soul level (new conjunction), a great deal of openness in regard to understanding and beliefs would be present, and there would not yet be any new beliefs formed. So basically the only full formed beliefs Darwin would have then would be one's he had developed throughout that previous Jupiter/Pluto cycle that has recently completed. Before looking at what that process would have been about in more detail, let's first dig further into the Soul's past to see why that recently completed Jupiter/Pluto cycle had even come into being, what was its cause.

To see that we'll have to look at the SNs of both those planets (Pluto and Jupiter). And here it gets very interesting, as we find the SN of Jupiter is in a close balsamic conjunction to Pluto! This introduces another fully culminated cycle of Jupiter and Pluto from the even more distant past. So what was that much older process all about, what were the understandings and beliefs formed way back then? To answer that we'll need to go into the primary situations in those more distant past lives.

In those lives the Soul has been concerned with core survival issues (SN of Pluto, the anchor -slowest- point in the conjunction, is in the 2nd house). The main process of the 2nd house is identification of what is needed to survive, which sorts out what are the most important things in life, and are therefore the most valuable for a person. The solidification (2nd is an Earth house) of this results in one's "values". What is valued however naturally also conditions a person's beliefs. If I don't have enough clothing to protect myself from the elements and keep healthy, then clothing becomes very valuable to me and it becomes very important to conserve it as much as possible. It will also tend to make me think that clothing is more important than food to survive - not because it necessarily is in an objective way for everybody, but because for me it is. Over time that way of thinking will also solidify (Earth) into a "belief" - a fixed idea, or fixed group of logically connected ideas (a concept), which I think is always true. It may in fact be true, or it may not be. But being a belief, whether it is or not I will continue to think it is regardless (Jupiter).

So firstly, what would the issues of those very distant past lives, preceding the recently completed Jupiter/Pluto cycle, have been about? The SN Pluto and the cusp of the 2nd are both in Capricorn so we know the Soul's issues in those lives will have had a lot to do with tangible realities (Earth sign), structure and goals, self-determination, it's local world situation & how it was run, authority, status etc (Capricorn). This is further reinforced by SN Pluto being conjunct the SN of Saturn. This creates a lot of Capricorn vibration around those 2nd house issues, probably too much for all those factors to have been in balance. This then indicates those lives would have involved many of the negative sides to Capricorn - the Soul being either in a dominanting position, or otherwise a subordinate position, in relation to the world.

Since both SN Pluto and SN Saturn are squaring Mars in the 10th (SN Saturn very closely), and the 10th being the natural Capricorn house,  it would have been the latter -  lives involving struggle, suppression, cruelty,  excessive discipline by, and submission to, the authorities of those times  - and it's likely whatever individuality he had was crushed (Saturn). This is further reinforced when we see that Saturn, the ruler of the SN Pluto and SN Saturn, is in the 12th house conjunct Neptune, indicating a great deal of time was spent alone in isolation. As the 12th house correlates externally (amongst other things) to institutions, and given the state of societies in those times, we can safely assume a significant amount of that time in isolation was spent in prison, monasteries etc. (Further reasons for and mechanisms involving this have been gone into in more detail in previous posts)

These were the issues at that more distant period in the Soul's evolution. So how would the beliefs of the Soul at that time have been conditioned by this survival process? In this life of Darwin the Soul is in the 3rd sub-stage of the Individuated stage of consciousness. But back in those distant past lives it would have inevitably been at a prior stage of consciousness, most likely consensus. Therefore the Soul's beliefs would have been more or less based on the level of herd instinct - safety in numbers, jostling within the herd hierarchy for the optimum position in the pecking order, believing without question the accepted viewpoint on most matters etc. Therefore the Soul would have taken the life experiences it had back then very literally (both Capricorn and the 2nd house are of the Earth element). Thus the Soul would have believed that life was incredibly tough, that survival was all that mattered, that material possessions were God, on a personality level that "who" they were was an unchangeable reality, that the way society was structured was unalterable, that the country it belonged to was home even if it was hell, and at worst, that this whole view of life was all that life could ever be (Capricorn correlates to depression).

To see how this survival process would have conditioned the Soul's distant beliefs let's examine the condition of the ruler of the SN Jupiter/SN Pluto conjunction in Capricorn 2nd - another look at Saturn again but this time as it relates to understanding and beliefs. Given what we have discovered above, Saturn in the 12th house in Sagittarius tends to indicate that the Soul would have been struggling (Saturn) with understanding (Sagittarius) things of a 12th house nature, which was likely to have been things such as being persecuted, feeling helpless, feeling lost, loneliness, feeling  a victim, possibly feeling suicidal at times. But Saturn being in a balsamic conjunction to Neptune shows even that situation was not new!! "¦ Neptune is the natural ruler of the 12th. The further down the rabbit hole we go here, the further back in time we end up. However now we finally start to see where Darwin's beliefs were probably originally seeded, and what they were all about.

With Saturn ruling the SNs of Jupiter and Pluto, this culminated Saturn/Neptune cycle shows that during those same series of very distant lives during which the Soul had such intense 2nd house issues going on, it has also been trying to find meaning, even inspiration, within the mundane reality of life, within the struggle to survive, despite it's oppressive situations. That the anchor planet, Neptune, is also in the 12th indicates however that things had gone beyond simply looking for "inspiration" (the Pisces principle now being extra emphasised). Given that Saturn is the ruler of the oppressive 2nd house issues, this indicates that the Soul had become extremely disillusioned with the whole of life itself. But why was this? The cause for that will be shown by the situation of the SN's of Saturn and Neptune respectively.

As far as Saturn goes, it was SN of Saturn which brought us to the 12th house in the first place. And we know the SN Saturn was to do with survival struggles, with value formation. So we'll need to examine Neptune's SN for fresh information regarding this total disillusionment with life. And we see the SN of Neptune is almost exactly conjunct Chiron in the 2nd - in a nutshell wounding from the survival/value formation process, back even further in the Soul's history - in its very distant, distant past. But also being in Aquarius and square it's ruler, Uranus, in the 11th house confirms that this struggle for survival during those very, very distant lives was indeed exceptionally traumatic (the Aquarius principle correlates to trauma), and additionally with Uranus being in Scorpio that back then this trauma had penetrated down to the core Soul level.

So here we have arrived at the bottom line issue of those very, very distant lifetimes. It was this deepest wounding to the Soul of its self-reliance, self-esteem (2nd), self-determination (Cap on 2nd house cusp), and thus it's individuality (the Aquarius/Uranus/11th factors), that motivated the Soul to look for something beyond the mundane, shown by the culminated Saturn/Neptune cycle in the 12th. This soul wounding would also have provoked the Soul into wanting to understand (Jupiter) life much more (the Saturn/Neptune conjunction is in Sagittarius). Thus the urge to find inspiration in life (Neptune), probably through escape had become joined to the urge to understand life (Jupiter), but again not in a vacuum - it was initially driven into being by the torturous 2nd house conditions the Soul endured for so many lives in its very, very distant past.

So now retracing our steps - from the deep wounding that occurred in the 2nd house in the Soul's very, very distant past, back to the less remote but still more distant 12th house efforts to escape from mundane reality, and the corresponding cycle of learning and attempted growth this produced (SN Jupiter conjunct SN Pluto in Capricorn). With the SN of Pluto in the 2nd the factors of survival, values and self - esteem were still the central issues, but with the SN of Jupiter being in the 1st we can see that the Soul had now "awoken" to itself to a degree - it had identified itself as it's most promising resource in those lifetimes, in terms of learning and attempting to expand it's understanding of how the world worked (SN Jupiter in Capricorn). The Soul would have started to ask questions about its society, about it's reality, and then pondered over possible answers until it came up with something that seemed right.

So that SN Jupiter/SN Pluto cycle would have been when the Soul deeply studied how society actually worked, in order to enhance it's survival prospects. And because the ruler (Saturn) is in Sag no doubt it was in those distant lifetimes that the Soul left the stability of it's 2nd house oppressive situations and ventured away from it's home to other parts of the country, and eventually onto journeys to new lands and cultures. Through these journeys the Soul would have found all the things described by the ruler of the SN Jupiter/SN Pluto conjunction (Saturn in Sag 12th conjunct Neptune) - escape, inspiration, exposure to other lifestyles, learning, and an expansion of possibilities and understanding. And slowly but surely this would have dramatically altered the Soul's core beliefs about life - that life was always hardship, that survival was all that mattered, that material possessions were God, on a personality level that "who" they were was an unchangeable reality, that the way society was structured was unalterable, that the country it belonged to was home even if it was hell, and at worst, that this whole view of life was all that life could ever be etc. This changing of the Soul's core beliefs would have developed once the Soul took some initiative, shown by SN Jupiter in the 1st house.

And possibly this was the point that the Soul made the initial movement towards individuation, moving into the transition between the Consensus stage and the Individuated stage. This is reaffirmed by the SNs of Mars and Uranus being in Sagittarius in the 1st house, showing that the Soul's breakout from it's prison-like conditions through learning to think about the bigger picture for itself (SN Jup in 1st) was both an act of courage against the prevailing societal opinions and beliefs (SN Mars Sag 1st exact square Jupiter in 3rd) and also an act of mental defiance (SN Uranus Sag 1st closely squaring Pluto in the 3rd) as the Soul started to strike out independently in a search for a better life, but also a better understanding of life.

So now we can return to the Soul's latest past lives during which the recently culminated Jupiter/Pluto cycle had been playing out. And now we know the deep history that has brought this cycle into being. Namely the Soul breaking out on its own (1st) in search for more meaning in life via a huge (Sagittarius, Jupiter) desire to escape (Neptune) from the mundane (2nd house issues, Taurus on 6th) - the result of a courageous and defiant (Aquarius, Uranus, Mars, 1st) reaction which had arisen up within the Soul as a result of years of struggle and hardship (Capricorn, Saturn) which the Soul had believed (Jupiter) in for a very great number of lives out of sheer necessity because that was the Soul's primary experience for such a long time.

So now we are back to this most recently culminated cycle of Jupiter and Pluto, which would have occurred in lives closely prior to the life of Darwin. This cycle would have been all about the Soul opening its doors to life in order to allow it's pent up frustrations and suffering from all the previous lifetimes room to finally breathe and be expressed. Hence Jupiter/Pluto is in Pisces, reflecting the now strong urges the Soul had accumulated for escape, but also for an all-inclusive view, and for genuine inspiration, and also due to the Soul's now long association with the combined Sagittarius/Pisces vibration (the mutual reception of Neptune in Sag/12th, Jupiter in Pisces) - the urge for a true understanding of life based on an experience of oneness. The Soul was most likely to have found travel in nature and other cultures (ruler of Pluto, Neptune in Sag) a natural situation in which it could have experienced this. During its travels the Soul would have encountered many new and foreign phenomena, cultures and viewpoints of all kinds. This would have challenged the Soul's mental horizons and ability to comprehend its experiences. It would have exposed it to bigotry and prejudice of all kinds, that of other people and also its own. The Soul would have initiated many relationships as it explored its changing surroundings and the situations (3rd house) it found itself in. And besides positive interactions with others, when viewpoints and beliefs that differed too much were involved inevitably the Soul would have had negative interactions, which would have left unresolved karma for the Soul. This most recent Jupiter/Pluto cycle would have been a cycle of ever expanding mental horizons (Jupiter) as the Soul moved from a focus on the cosmos (ruler of Pluto, Neptune in the 12th) to the immediate (Pluto in 3rd), and then back again, in an ever changing kaleidoscope of revolving experience and meaning (Jupiter in it's changing aspects to Pluto as the entire cycle between them unfolded).

So that was what was happening as a result of that recently culminated Jupiter/Pluto cycle in the group of lives most prior to Darwin. If we look now at the life immediately before the Soul incarnated as Darwin, we see in that chart (as per Rad, the life of the Soul prior to Darwin was William Dampier) a Sagittarius Ascendant and the Moon in the 9th, Jupiter in the 12th conjunct the ASC trine Mercury, and Neptune in the 1st in Sagittarius (the independent traveling, with an interest in both the right brained metaphysical and religious, and as well logical left brain, experience). And Jupiter (higher mind) is in a Gibbous opposition to Pluto (in Gemini - lower mind) approaching the Full phase. This shows the full blown hunger for knowledge, the desire for growth, understanding and expansion that was coming to peak in the Soul's life as Dampier. And with Mars & the SN in in the 10th (self-determination), and the ruler of the SN (Venus) in gibbous opposition again to Jupiter, the desire for fulfilment of the Jupiter/Pluto energies in this life would have been further heightened and intensified. And indeed, we know from history that Dampier pursued this goal (Mars in 10th) with an amazingly single minded desperation, circumnavigating the world by ship three times (which was a world first), hardly spending much time on land at all.

Such was the intensity with which Dampier pursued his Jupiter/Pluto desires for understanding and knowledge of nature, and an experience of the vast spaces of life - via the open sea and sky (Jupiter in 12th) - that by the time the Soul reincarnated as Darwin in it's next life the Jupiter/Pluto desires had all been effectively fulfilled on that level and thus culminated, and so Darwin was born with a brand new Jupiter/Pluto cycle at his disposal. We can also see in Dampier's chart the karma that had been accumulated with people (Pluto in the 7th and SN Moon and Mars in Libra), and this was carried through into Darwin's life with Mars still in Libra, and the SN Moon in Taurus with Venus (relating) being the ruler (Venus was also the ruler of Dampier's SN in Libra). Through travelling so extensively Dampier was also seeking an exotic and liberating experience of himself (Uranus conjunct Neptune, and also the PPP all being in the 1st), something that would set him free (all in Sagittarius). But rather what he would have found was an endless world of natural wonders, many amazing parallels yet just as many enigmas, a great deepening of his intuitive powers, and many fascinating yet unexplained mysteries. While he had no planets in the 3rd house, he had Mercury in the 8th house, and Jupiter in the 12th - he wanted to penetrate and understand these mysteries. And while his 3rd house was empty, it had Pisces intercepted in it "¦ unknowing to Dampier perhaps, but the Soul was indeed preparing for many mysteries to be explained, because in the next life Darwin also had Pisces intercepted in the 3rd house, but this time with a full arsenal of energies to provide the explanations - Mercury balsamic conjunct Pluto new conjunct Jupiter. And this finally, was why Jupiter was in this 3rd house situation.

And in the life of Darwin everything was ready for the explanation of mysteries to happen. Along with the Soul's many, many previous journeys in nature, Dampier's wild journeys had by and large regenerated the Soul's individuality to a full and functional state (Darwin had SN Moon in 5th -- the Leo house - with it's ruler in Aries; and Mars was still in the 10th - a full unimpeded determination to pursue his desires; and again a Sagittarian Ascendant - in summary, plenty of self-centred fire in operation). And all these journeys would have slowly but surely wiped his mind clear of a great deal of its prejudice. Nature doesn't argue, it just is, and he would have dealt with it in many recent life journeys. We can also see that the Soul's ancient wound to it's self-esteem (which had since had emotional wounding added to it, as described in past posts) has been brought forward and emphasised for attention and healing in this life (Chiron in 2nd is square the Moon's Nodal axis).

So what would Darwin's beliefs have been? How much of those ancient Soul memories would still be manifesting as beliefs? He had some beliefs of course, but by and large Darwin was a free man. As discussed previously Darwin knew in his bones not to take survival for granted, and had manoeuvred himself to be born into wealth (SN Taurus 5th, Moon in Cap 2nd), which took the pressure off in that regard and he no longer needed to believe in striving for a better life anymore - he now had one.

He also demonstrated strong religious beliefs (Saturn/Neptune in 12th). But that is perhaps where strong dogmatic beliefs ended with Darwin. This Soul has had such a battering so many distant lives ago, followed recently by a massive internal rebellion, that at least as far as the external world was concerned it's mind has become much more open and flexible (the massive mutability of the Pisces 3rd house stellium). With Leo on the 9th house cusp there would be a certain fixity (wilfulness) about finding the truth, but also a certain nobility and generousness (Leo) with regard to open-mindedness and fairness in that process (9th house cusp ruler the Sun in Aquarius).

But as we know, Darwin didn't actually waste time becoming attached to beliefs at all. Instead generally speaking he was a very "reasonable" man in his view of the world and the people in his life, because he could see things from different sides (3rd house) and didn't have a dogmatic mind full of fixed beliefs. With Jupiter in a new conjunction to Pluto, he was now in this life more of an open book, ready to consider endless new possibilities in the interpretation of the thousands of facts he collected about everything that interested him (Mercury is balsamic to Pluto so he was now an expert in factual collection and organisation etc). But rather than get bogged down with beliefs, Darwin preferred to invest in painstaking mental discipline and experimentation (this Mercury conjunct Pluto square Saturn) as a pathway to mental certainty and understanding (Jupiter), and the strong religious  convictions he had from childhood onwards gradually died a natural and mostly painless death much later on the altar of such scientific enquiry.

Darwin was also constantly reminded about the uncertainty of anything in life when his most beloved daughter died at 10, and also on an on-going basis via his ill-health for which he never found a cure. These things made him even more determined to penetrate to some greater reality before he died (Uranus new conjunct resolution NN Moon in Scorpio), and the stronger that desire for truth (Jupiter/Pluto in Pisces; ruler Neptune in Sagittarius 12th, PPP in 9th) became the less he believed in anything. His Soul had suffered so much in its deep past because of his own (and other people's) beliefs that he has needed to break free in a hugely intelligent reaction to such manmade limitations. So instead Darwin never assumed he was automatically right. In his quest for truth he voluntarily constructed belief after belief (hypotheses), testing each one in turn for logical consistency, for repeatable validation by experiment, and for objective verification with others in the scientific community (Jupiter gibbous sesquiquadrate NN/Uranus conjunction in 11th).

Nevertheless there was great opposition throughout society to his findings, which threatened the safety of himself and his family (Mars Full phase quincunx Jupiter). And with Jupiter sextile his Moon, it would have been very understandable if he had stopped his quest for the truth, and instead let any remaining unproven hypotheses gradually solidify within into his own private beliefs. Here though is a fascinating insight into how completely the old beliefs that the Soul had from threats to it's survival in those distant past lives (that survival was all that mattered, that there was safety in numbers, that the way society was structured was unalterable etc) had been deeply eradicated from the Soul's mental structure. Because every trigger to revert back into those beliefs was now present, yet Darwin never really flinched. He felt the fear and carried on anyway, with more intensity and determination than ever. We can be grateful that not only did he make such great advancements in science, but that he did it at great personal cost to his sense of security, which as mentioned at the beginning, since the advent of patriarchy has been the primary motivation for trying to understand (Jupiter) universal phenomena in the first place. And if Darwin had been a man of beliefs he would have collapsed back into them in his life.

His courage however (Mars) to reject popular belief in the face of such pressure to conform (quincunx) was simply heroic (Jupiter). In fact, by and large Darwin's life was essentially a process of reacting to beliefs as much as possible - in the external world that is - and he became a truly great scientist as a result. It was this approach that allowed him to finally reach his goal and find the unifying truth about biological nature that he so famously did, finally reaching the 9th house PPP and eventually receiving universal recognition for his vast overview and deep understanding of biology and nature (Leo on 9th cusp). This is why Darwin's Jupiter was in Pisces.

Hi Upasika,

My god Upasika what a breathtaking understanding of the evolutionary journey of the Soul of Darwin from the distant past, as you brilliantly delineated, to the intermediate past, that then lead to the life of Darwin. The EA reasoning that you employed along the way, the entire journey, is a simply deep as it is utterly accurate.

By supplying the actual historical context of the evolutionary journey for Darwin's Soul that lead to his revolutionary/ evolutionary book that shook the world at that time you have so wonderfully demonstrated the real and total capacity and power of the Evolutionary Astrology brought forth by JWG. This is how it is meant to be done. In so doing you, with the others in our little group now, are literally TEACHING EA to all those that have been and are reading this thread. I know that JWG would thank you from the bottom of his heart and Soul because of this.

My hat is off to you.

BRAVO !!

God Bless, Rad

Hi Rad,

Thank you very much, I really appreciate that ... somehow I just click with Darwin (and this was also probably one of my better efforts). But I'm very grateful for being able to learn EA via Jeffrey's two books, and without whom Astrology as such would have remained so much the poorer; and then from your simply wonderful expertise and tireless guidance, which to me is an amazing gift you give to all who come here.

I know I've also learnt heaps from the interaction with and exposure to everyone here on the MB - learnings of all kinds from what others post has been so invaluable (and over quite a long time such a variety of approaches has also helped me find my own). As well everyone here has created such a friendly and fertile environment in which to learn, and I'm also very grateful for that - without it I doubt if I'd have stuck with this and learnt much at all. It's such a good feeling being part of such a great community.

Hello group,

I am once again sorry for being so late, as I have once again been experiencing a number of obstacles and difficult personal events.  I wanted to make sure to post something on Darwin's Jupiter, though, so this is all I have been able to come up with so far. I do intend to finish to the end of this thread, and hope to have better timing on our next topic of Saturn.

Darwin was born with a Jupiter in Pisces, a powerfully resonant placement for the Jupiter archetypal meaning in EA connected with interpretation of the phenomenal nature of reality, and the right hemisphere of the brain that is linked to non-linear and image-based thinking.  In the sign of Pisces, Jupiter is in a comfortable home for this intention because of how Pisces archetypally is able to interpret phenomenal reality in a non-linear manner that can go beyond the consensus constraints of the culture one is born into.  In the case of Darwin, this is even more pronounced as he has a Pisces Mercury in a balsamic phase with his Jupiter, as well as a Pisces Pluto his Jupiter is in new phase with.  Moreover, Darwin had a Leo ninth house that is ruled by his Aquarius Sun in his second house- all together giving him the astrological ingredients that would help draw him to objectify, revolutionize, and reformulate the modern worldview concerning creation itself, while theorizing the existence of an evolution within phenomenal reality.

It is further interesting that at the time of his birth, an astrologer would have seen his Jupiter as being in its own rulership in the sign of Pisces, and even more interesting to me that the planet Neptune was discovered in the time period leading up to the publication of his "Origin of Species."  An astrologer at the time of his birth may have drawn great significance to his Sagitarius Saturn rising above the horizon at his time of birth, not knowing that the planet Neptune would also have been located in the same vicinity- in fact Neptune is pretty close to directly on the horizon at his time of birth.  With his Pisces Jupiter ruling his first house, and his Sagitarius Neptune being conjunct Saturn at the end of his twelfth house, in range of a conjunction with his ascendant, Darwin had a loaded Pisces Jupiter in mutual reception with his Sagitarius Neptune. When we integrate the modern Neptune rulership of Pisces used by EA, we end up with a feedback loop occurring in Darwin's chart through delineation between Neptune and Jupiter, in the mutable synthesizing signs of Sagitarius and Pisces.  Could we expect anything less from a man who changed not only the face of science, but the modern worldview as well with his evolutionary theories?

His Pisces Jupiter is the ruler of his ascendant and first house in Sagitarius, so his Jupiter is vital in the way he instinctually presents himself to the world and can be viewed by others.  With his Jupiter in his third house, it goes very well with the sort of obsessive and groundbreaking scientist he not only took on as an identity, but deeply embodied in order to manifest tangible results to support his scientific theories.  His first house also contains the South nodes of Uranus and Mars, both of which are then also ruled by his Pisces Jupiter.  This signifies a deep soul pattern of striking out independently and instinctively on his own in order to investigate and explore nature and natural law, ultimately synthesizing the knowledge from his experiences into his Pisces Jupiter belief system.  However, since these two south nodes are conjunct the asteroid Kassandra, it also points to a mythic storyline that has been repeating for him involving something along the lines of not being believed-  having important information related to survival or ultimate understanding to offer his community, but to have a fate like Kassandra in which he is not actually believed.  Thus, Charles Darwin with his Pisces Jupiter would be determined to prove the validity of his insights and theories by collecting extensive scientific evidence to support his theories.

In connection to his Pisces Jupiter and the manner in which he interprets phenomenal reality, it is imperative to consider how he communicates his understanding through his Pisces Mercury in a balsamic phase with his Pisces Jupiter. For one, in line with a balsamic moon phase, it would at times lead him into depression and dark frames of mind, as he would have the pattern in life of questioning and then clearing out deeply set perspectives and beliefs he had picked up from his family, culture, perhaps even past lives.  This balsamic phase of not only interpreting phenomenal reality but communicating it would lend itself to the formation of a new vision that Darwin would be bringing in to explain to society concerning phenomenal reality.  We can see the significance and importance of this new vision in his chart through the new phase conjunction between Pisces Pluto and Pisces Jupiter.  Because his Pisces Jupiter is connected to the deep soul desires of a Pisces Pluto in a new phase, this new vision would not be entirely clear to him, but he would gain the Virgo-polarity of greater clarity and discernment as he wandered further upon his path.  This goes with how he drifted into religious studies, but ultimately let go of interest in religious studies, and then somehow managed to find a way to travel by sea to observe and collect research in the same exact location as the sea explorer William Dampier before him.  This new phase conjunction of Pluto and Jupiter in Pisces utilizing a balsamic Pisces Mercury is a sign that the most productive path for Darwin will involve questioning and releasing past perceptions and beliefs about phenomenal reality he comes to realize do not align with his sense of the truth from experience, synthesizing his understanding through discernment gained by presence in the moment and attention to detail, in a Virgo manner.  And although he intended to do this through the often linear field of science, because of having a Pisces Mercury, Pluto, and Jupiter, Darwin would be able to come to his realizations in a non-linear manner that was guided by image-based observations of environments and species living within.

In fact, with an Aquarius Sun ruling his ninth house of Leo, this connects to the previously discussed soul intention he had to throw off restrictive and limiting beliefs concerning the nature of phenomenal reality and creation that dominated consensus thought from sources such as religion that imposed a Biblical interpretation of order upon phenomenal reality.  As we have also discussed, his Aquarius Sun is in a balsamic phase with his Capricorn Moon, a further symbol of objectifying and releasing conditioned thought.  With his ninth house ruled by Leo, it is a sign of how Solar and powerful a presence he developed for himself in terms of the Pisces Jupiter theories of belief he developed- still today he is seen as a scientific "sun" in a way in which all sorts of theories continue to revolve around.  His Aquarius Sun being in his second house connects with the fact his belief system was very much focused upon issues of survival and resources.

Since Darwin's Pisces Jupiter is ruled by a Sagitarius Neptune conjunct Saturn, both of which are further ruled by his Pisces Jupiter, it is also important to jump ahead a bit here (since we haven't covered Saturn and Neptune yet on this thread) and integrate Neptune and Saturn into the meaning of his Pisces Jupiter. These rulerships further point to the significance of the structure of Darwin's consciousness being focused upon Natural Law, giving his Aquarius Sun the purpose to use his Pisces Jupiter to interpret phenomenal reality into a theory and belief system that is closer to actual reality than the beliefs of the culturally dominant paradigm surrounding him in society, from influences such as dogmatic religious interpretations of phenomenal reality.  Neptune as the ruler of his Pisces Jupiter is a symbol of how he himself experienced what happens when one follows a certain belief system only to experience disillusionment and a depressive or chaotic state in which ultimately a new pattern of belief will develop that would help him find greater alignment with the truth of his experience- the conjunction of Neptune with Saturn in Sagitarius could be seen as an ultimate strength after experiencing some initial limitations or tests.  With his Pisces Jupiter ruling this Sagitarius conjunction of Neptune-Saturn, he would do this through extensive research and obssessive documentation of scientific results and observations in support of his theory. In the end the movement toward the Virgo polarity point into the ninth house with Leo on the cusp, ruled by an Aquarius Sun-  all of this shows how this detailed focus and discernment of research could ultimately be communicated to the world in a manner that would help throw off past limitations of conditioned thought surrounding the nature of phenomenal reality.

Looking at the South Node of Jupiter, it is in Capricorn and the 1st house, and so ruled by this same Sagitarius Saturn that is conjunct Neptune and also ruled by his Pisces Jupiter, which in turn is ruled by his Sagitarius Neptune, which in turn is ruled by his Pisces Jupiter, and so on . . . again we come back to this feedback loop that Darwin was able to utilized in a powerful manner to propel the research in support of his groundbreaking theories forward.  His Capricorn Moon that is balsamic to his Aquarius Sun is conjunct this South Node of Jupiter, and so again part of the past clearing Darwin was doing in his life in preparation for his new vision had to do with his own past patterns of belief that were highly influenced by conditioning factors of the society in which he lived.  This point is further supported by his Capricorn Moon being in a last quarter sextile to his Pisces Jupiter, as this is an aspect that would give him the opportunity to make the choice to transition from past patterns into a more productive path and purpose.  This last quarter sextile would also make it possible for him to resist this transition, so he would also experience some steps back, in his process of stepping forward. However, I think it is clear from the life of Darwin that he ultimately was able to make choices to place him on a productive path.

A more intense aspect with his Pisces Jupiter is it being in sesquiquadrate to his Scorpio Uranus in his 11th house, as well as his North Node of the Moon in Scorpio.  In contrast to some of the other aspects involving his Pisces Jupiter, this is more of a humbling one that could even humiliate his sense of egotistic pride.  The underlying purpose for the crises that could correspond with this aspect would be to help him ultimately align himself to a greater extent with the needs of the greater social environment.  We have discussed the fact that in past lives, such as the willful sea explorer William Dampier, his Soul could have been more resistant to aligning with the needs of the social environment and more focused on needs of the self.  The most productive path and purpose for Charles Darwin, however, was to modify his natural individualized sense of purpose to better meet the needs of his surrounding environment.  As a result, Darwin created a form for his research, and fit his findings into patterns, theories, and structures that would help liberate consensus thought from crystallized conditioned beliefs that were ultimately very limiting concerning the nature of phenomenal reality.  The sesquiquadrate between his Scorpio Uranus, ruled by his Pisces Pluto, and his Pisces Jupiter corresponds to the intensity of experiences Darwin sufferred through at times and the depths of despair he faced within himself.  The intensity of these experiences, however, were in the end just part of his process of pushing forward with expressing his new vision into society on a grand level.

Finally, working in a couple of significant Goddesses into the mix, Darwin had a Pisces Juno balsamic conjunct his Pisces Jupiter, with a Pisces Ceres conjunct Pluto that is in a balsamic phase with his Pisces Jupiter.  As we have previously discussed in relation to both Darwin's Aries Venus and Libra Mars, the Juno balsamic conjunction with Jupiter in Pisces, in his third house, is another indication that Darwin would desire to have a female partner in life with whom he could discuss his philosophical theories and musings.  It would be important for her to not only have interest in his ideas, but to also have the intellectual capacity to hold space with him to discuss the enormous questions he was asking himself about phenomenal reality.  As we have also discussed, Darwin did manage to find this sort of a partner in his wife.  Pisces Ceres being in a balsamic relationship with Jupiter is a sign to me that his past pattern of obsessively clinging and grasping to his intellectual speculation and research would be something he would be beginning to clear and let go of in his life of Charles Darwin, as part of the new phase vision of the relationship between his Pisces Pluto and Jupiter.  Darwin was still obsessive about his research and productivity, but through forming a family, and facing tragic loss of children in a manner similar to Ceres in myth, at various points Darwin had to let go and re-center himself in his family environment, taking a break from his obsessive intellectual pursuits.

Rad remarked that the phenomenon of conception and abstraction is a Jupiter process, and Charles Darwin was able in the end to use the strong non-linear interpretation of his Pisces Jupiter to conceive a theory that asked and answered extraordinary questions concerning phenomenal reality, and attempted to explain the evolution of life on our planet.
